Quidco or TCB should always be seen as a bonus rather than a given. Its not Santanders fault if it doesnt track properly, etc.

I don't think there are any major problems with the cashback tracking correctly (save for Quidco not showing the actual cashback amount); the crunch will come if Santander will not pay the money out.

Nothwithstanding, Topcashback had initially stated on their website that the cashback deal was for both new and existing customers.

Oh dear... I have a feeling there will be a large number of disappointed people on MSE. Let's just say I have an intricate understanding of Santander having worked in the branch network until very recently.

    2) Cashback Incentives (Quidco, TCB or Santanders £100/200/300 offer) never apply for existing BANKING customers. So I am sorry to say that everyone that has applied via TCB will be disappointed when the tracked £55.55 is never paid.

I have no reason to doubt that the cashback will be paid. I was paid a cashback on my PICR account when I was already an existing customer with a current account that I had previously earned cashback on.

Indeed Quidco has this to say "Cashback is only available once per person per product", and the 123 is a new product.

Indeed my 123 credit card did get approved this time & is now up-and-running. The d/d on my new 123 Current a/c appeared automatically without my having done anything to set it up... Cheeky! Fortunately, that is what I wanted. Otherwise I would've cancelled the d/d. I have been told on the phone (can't get on-line servicing for the credit card up-and-running yet even tho the website says airily "just log in to your on-line personal banking & service your credit card!" or words to that effect. Fat chance. >--> No sign of credit card amongst my personal & biz accounts showing on my internet banking page. Techie CA in Belfast says he has to send me a new set of sign-in details in order for me to be able to log on the c/card. Anyway, that is another story). Where was I? Oh yes, I've been told on the phone that the £24 credit card Annual Fee that is already charged to my a/c (even cheekier..) will be refunded to me in due course. So my question is - has anybody had any experience of this & how long it takes from the charge to the refund?? I.E. How long should I wait before I take the matter up with them again?
Expect the worst & hope for the best...

  • I applied for a 123 account on 19th March but have heard nothing. Can anyone tell me how long it is taking to respond by email?

I applied for my 123 current account on 14th March, and I've received my debit card already, and the account is fully open.

Similar here. I applied on 16th March, received email conformation within a few hours and by letter on 20th and debit card on 22nd. Account is now up and running with all DD's and SO's transferred across.
  • As a satisfied Santander Premier Direct Customer, I was tempted with the new 123 account too and indeed I am in the process of switching over, the cross over has been swift and is easy for me to follow on line.

But I was disapointed to find out that cash or cheque deposits of this new account can not be carried out at my handy post office counter like I have been using for years with my Premier Direct and Commercial Account that used to be with the Alliance and Leicester before the take over.

That means that I will have to go into town to my nearest Santander Bank or deposit and transfer over from my post office freindly accounts.

Its a pity that Santander don't make this clear in their promotion of this new account!

    Your comments welcome.

    All the best

I do hope you all realise that once you all open these accounts the monthly fee will rise and the benefits will cease. I'm sure this is a clever way of getting people to pay for their accounts.
