It really is who you know, My position was a position where I worked alone, didn't really deal with anyone that I could network with, but those in my company who dealt with customers/suppliers etc have all got jobs, the secretaries for example, made redundant on Wednesday, new job on Monday.

At the moment could someone stay on JSA for four years?.... Well it cetainly appears that it is possible that this thread could last for four years - does that count?

Could I suggest an answer to the original question? The answer is no - at this moment it is entirely impossible that someone could stay on JSA for four years. Because in 2013 JSA will disappear and be replaced by the Universal Credit.

Those at the bottom claiming the min req to live on will get the same, some will be better off. It will only effect new claiments from Dec 2013 and others will be changed in the 4 years following.

Same here. Me and other half both work. We are £23 a week better off than if we didn't work but the bus fayres to and from work are £13 a week.

If you walked you'd save yourself £13. After all that's £1.30 each way so it can't be more than a couple of miles.

I'm not very good at interviews, I have had some good advice on here but lack confidence; I have asked about interview coaching but there doesn't seem to be any offered in the local area. A4E etc will help find jobs to apply for and help apply but nothing on the interview side of things.

The best interview technique is to just be yourself. After all any employer is going to see what you're really like if they give you the job anyway aren't they? And this way you'll be a lot more relaxed when you're being grilled :)

Id get myself a board and somehow put on it that your looking for work and stand on a busy roundabout or main road, some guy did it somewhere and he managed to get a job.

Ive been on jsa myself so i know what its like, was on it for 5/6 months and hated it and not sure if i could have managed a year.

Is that what you did when you got the push from your last shelf stacking job, DC?
