That's what we have done, well wrapped. Hope that's ok.
Thanks everyone for all the rat stories, it's actually making me feel a lot better about the whole situation knowing how much more common it is. I guess it's not the sort of thing that would usually make a good conversation.
The mention of decking though is a good point, next door but one had this put in last year and found they had a problem under it, no surprise really as we all live with a wildlife bank along the back of our houses, just seperated by a small lane so very easy for them to make home somewhere a bit more comfortable.
We were advised to put sides on our decking which we did because its well known that rats will live under them:eek::eek::eek::eek:
The thing is if you have rats in the garden the chances are someone else in your road has, what happens is they put poison down which causes the rats to hemorrage, and they literally find a hole or little space to die.
Sorry only know about rats because years ago we lived next door to a lady who was totally eccentric and her whole house was full of old food, papers, furniture you name it, and she lived in one room. We called social services, but she refused help and their was nothing they could do. We called enviromental health out and they actually cleared the house because it was over run with rats and they told her that her patio was in danger of collapsing because of the rat runs underneath it.
They used to leave us bags of blue rat pellets to chuck into her garden(It was totally overgrown) for when it got really bad. We used to keep an eye on her but you can only do so much, and one day I was sitting in our conservatory and 2 rats ran along the outside of the conservatory windowsill and that was it, I freaked and the next day our house was on the market. It was really sad though as two months later her house caught on fire, she couldnt get because of all the rbbish in there:( but my old next door neighbour said it was horrendous their were rats running out of the house and when they properly cleared the house they'd even been nesting in her mattress!!!!!Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0 -
I am truly inspired!! I too have a fuji, s5200 (Ithink!) bridge camera also. I paid a very cheap £120 for mine! -years ago though! I love the nikon D300 (lenses!) too, but finances will probably never allow it! (hence why I'm on here!) Do you post on the fuji forums? I got loads of tips from there when I got my camera but I haven't visited for about 5 years! (I've boycotted BT so been offline!) They used to be very helpful over there.
Please note, I'm not saying you need help because your pics are amazing, but as you say, you never stop learning!!
Please keep posting your photos, I love 'em!
Actually fuji cameras are very good. My first point and shoot was a fuji F31fd....I still carry it now but somethings gone awry inside as you have to tap it sometimes or it just massively overexposes the pics.
I almost bought a D300 and a couple of lenses. It was back when T's used to take coupons even if you didn't buy the product. I'd saved enough to just about buy the kit but then our good friend Mr Lewis went on national tele and the coupon policy got pulled within hours. I decided to out the camera on hold then the exchange rate swung heavily the other way making the camera and lens 500 quid more expensive so the chance went begging. Wish I'd taken the plunge when I had the chance!!
Thing is DSLR's are good but what about me today? I was out on a kayak all day. How do you take a DSLR and all the lenses with you on that? Totally impractical. Bridge cameras do fill a niche provided you can live with their idiosyncracies. I had a panasonc FZ38 before this (and recommend it to anyone, specially for the price you can get em for now) and this is a slight step up as the camera isn't ace on its fully auto settings and requires a bit of user input to get the best out of it.
My first days pics with it were so awful and grainy I almost took it back!!!
Remind me about the fuji forums as I've heard other people say how helpful they are and with this particulart camera I reckon I could do with a bit of input.

Hi all, my first post on this thread. Read thru many many pages & ventured off to Ts tday in search of 1p deals. Gt a few QS purple bars. :j Bought a can opener, ts own brand. it was on a clip strip away frm the other kitchen tools stuff & had a yellow sticker for 67p. clip strip had £1 sticker. wen i paid it scanned at £1.10. thot i had found a DTD item & queried at CS desk & the person went off 2 chk, cam bk n told me its £1. i went bk 2 the aisle & the yellow label had disappeared. dunno how. it might still nt b updtd in few stores so if anyone here is able to find it do let us knw. bar code 5 051898 566296. will try n upload a pic later. thnx for all the tips, makes me feel like am on som imp mission wen i go to Ts now......
Welcome Ruby!:j
The label hadn't disappeared, the staff member had more than likely half-inched it:( to get out of paying your DTD.
The best thing to do is escort them back to the shelf so there is no confusion and so you can "show them where you found it"...insist if necessary! They are sneaky although I think they were mean to do that on such a small dTD.
I always accompany them as you can never be sure, I accompanied one bloke to the shelf and I thought his face was burning he was so cross when we saw the barcodes were correct and yes indeed I had been charged 8 x the SEL price....I guess it was his section and his responsibility!!!

Just back from T's the scrum for the fruit and veg was mad so left it, walked around the corner and the bloke had a meat trolley piled high with pork, the area is a very high Muslim area and no1 wanted it, I got 8 pork joints from 98p-£1.12, 4 pork tenderloins £1.07 each 6 trays of pork chops 98p each, freezer is bulging I had to take it all out of the packaging and into freezer bags
i think i may have just missed you - i was at the veg section. my freezer is full with pork chops from last week.
ps: believe it or not, i have seen a woman with veil and all eating pork scratching in the wet market!0 -

phew.....got back from my weekend at Butlins to over 60 pages to catch up on.....spent blooming hours....god you guys can chat!!!!!
was a good weekend, but am very cross because I stupidly took my car keys with me....which meant my BIL couldnt take my car in on Saturday to start fixing itwhich means I can probably manage the school run all week...but would be pushing my luck (and probably the car!) if I take it any further...ie Ts
I also need a trip to Ssinsbobs to use my SSM coupons asap before their laundry offer finishes ....oh whats a girl to do!!!!
Right ...off to bed...will decide in the morning!!!!

This is much like the old man, well he was not actually that old just looked it because he did not look after himself. He lived other end of our terrace and used to buy things online and never open them and keep every bit of rubbish he made. Several years ago he was really ill, doing even weirder things like buying food shopping and leaving the full Ts bags in his car. He could hardly see out of it when he drove. He ended up in hospital and his sister and her husband came and cleared the house, think they found evidence of rats then. It was a shame as they never seemed to keep in contact with him He died last year and I felt really guilty as had not seen him for couple of weeks and had mentioned this to his fairly new neighbour. He said he had spoken to him few days previous. But I just had a feeling something was not quite right. By the time police were called and broke in he was barely alive and it was too late for him.
We are wondering if the rat could have come from his loft all the way through to us, the house was sold last year and lots of young people live there now. OH has done the decent thing and knocked on all the neighbours doors this evening to let them know. Apparently this last house has a landlord now so they are going to let him know. I don't mean to be stereotypical but am thankful, house next door has sold to a professional couple and not a landlord. We have had really nice next door neighbours until now and will be sad to see them go. Shame we have had to give them unpleasant news.0 -

I agree completely about the practicalities of a DSLR. I have enough trouble with polarising and uv filters!
Find the same probs with auto settings on my fuji too, and it truly is a learning curve when it comes too manual overrides!! (loads of dodgy results!)
As far as I remember regards the fuji forums, you have to register your camera, and you're free to post. (via website). When I was there they were extremely helpful chaps! Monthly comps with loads of gear up for grabs, I'll have a proper look again tomorrow if you need any more help, but I am seriously doubting my ability to remember log in info after so long!
And finally, I would post some of my pictures for you, but my external hard drive went completely t!ts up a couple of weeks ago and is apparently irrepairable. All of my photos and music... gone, finito, tis no more. Arguing with computer shop at the mo about returning it to me! I'm sure someone will be able to recover data, but they have my drive! Honestly feel like I've lost my left arm!! Sad! Probably asked for it by not backing up! Grrr!
(P.S. does your camera have lithium bettery or are you hunting dtd like me?!! That would be my only real complaint!!)
Sorry everyone else that was hoping to find some T news in this post!!!!! We never have had much luck in Cornwall!!Gwrys yn Kernow! :j0 -
