Right so I can source one & use them, they've not to be listed on any Autoaid database.
    Thanks

    That is correct:-

  • Having read the reviews from the money saving expert forums I signed to Auto Aid. BIG MISTAKE....

Unfortunately we have had nothing but extremely poor customer service. The breakdown was 8 Dec and as of 25 Jan we still have not received any money. On 3 separate occasions they have informed us that a cheque has been posted, however no cheque has yet arrived. After leaving it another week for a cheque we called Auto Aid once more. The customer service advisor informed us that the cheque was being posted tomorrow. I stated that this was unacceptable after being informed it had been posted on 3 previous occasions.

We requested the money be paid directly to our bank account but we await a manager to call us back to see whether this is possible.

In summary, poor customer service lying to the customer on 3 occasions.

    Spend your money elsewhere
  • I have nothing but good experiences with Autoaid. My car broke down on two occassions and, although it was quite an expensive "fix" both times (including having car transported 60 miles to my home) I had no problems at all getting my money refunded from Autoaid. I paid £36 in the first year (which covers myself and my wife in both our cars) and must have saved myself well over £150 because of what I could claim back. I know not everyone's feedback is so positive but for me...full marks! (and am renewing with them again this year)

Nothing but praise for these guys. Called them, explained the situation, breakdown truck out in less than an hour - text message confirming the arrangement received about 10 minutes later with an ETA. Breakdown company accepted a credit card and sent the invoice through in 4-5 days. Sent the invoice and claim form through to Autoaid - just waiting for the cheque.

The experience was on a par with other bigger brand breakdown companies and an arguably better response time than previous AA/ RAC calls - with no annoying customer service questionnaire to complete!

I nearly went for autoaid but noticed that my 125cc motorbike wont be covered as it only covers bikes over 150cc. I wont be using autoaid for this reason.

No mention of any restriction in their Policy Schedule:

    Page2:-

"The vehicle – a saloon car, hatchback, estate car, car derived van or motorcycle. Motorised caravan under 2.5 tons gross vehicle weight and with an engine capacity of no more than 2500 cc."

Thanks Derrick, I've just spoken with them to check and they confirmed it doesnt cover 125cc and they assure me it is in the small print of the schedules somewhere. I spotted it on the personal details page when clicking to join. It is in the important notes column on the right.

    Qualifying vehicles:
    • UK vehicles only
    • Private cars, car derived vans and motorcycles over 150cc. Motorised caravans will only be covered if they do not exceed 2.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight and 2500cc.

We have just renewed. It is now £38, but the limit of payment for work carried out at home has been increased.

Well after reading Martins article I decided to join AutoAid. Originally I was going for the £38.00 deal but I went for the £66.00 one. The equivalent with the AA would have been £100 plus.
