The pack sizes inside multi-packs may be smaller than individual packs. So the weight of your sweetie bars, or the volume of your drink may be less per unit.
A bargain that may not be the bargain you were expecting. Compare the weight/volume of the units in the multi-pack against regular items before making your decision.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. A couple three months ago,I picked up a pack of Tesco 4x chicken breasts for £2.99,now these were'nt near the meat aisle, they were in a small fridge display at the bottom of the veg aisle.
At the bottom of the meat aisle where they have the offers, were the exact same packs of 4x chicken breasts but for £3.99!!!...Same pack, dates ect, only a different price...0 -
Oh yes! Try pork shoulder, it's delicious slow-roasted and often even cheaper than that. Try Jamie Oliver's recipe.
One of my favourites is the two boxes of clingfilm from Iceland that I have in the kitchen drawer. Both labelled 'Stronger and Longer' but one is 40m and the newer one is 35m:rotfl:. I keep meaning to take them in and show the manager, as if they'd care???
One of my latest irritations is the practice of labelling washing powder as 'number of washes'. A prime example of how essential it is to do price per kg.
What really makes me  is the way supermarkets are treating Joe (and Josephine) Public like idiots and think we're too stupid/lazy to do anything about it. I really see evidence of the worm turning. Tesco got a wake up call, my Asda is half empty these days and I'm joining the hordes in Aldi and Lidl! I'm fortunate in that I'm not exactly short of money but I just hate being ripped off. It reminds me of the way banks assumed that people couldn't be bothered to change accounts but now they know that people will change/open accounts anywhere they get a good deal and vote with their feet if they're not happy.
I totally agree! Today I have possibly shopped in Tesco for the last time, having been a regular customer of the Pitsea store since the day it open. I am now fed up with this company continually treating it's customers as idiots! I refer to the offers that aren't real i.e. the half price turkeys, large packs dearer than 2 small packs etc.
One of my regular purchases is from the "Discounts Brands" range "Cafe Blend Coffee Whitener", which I have been buying for 99p for at least a year. Today it is now £2.34 for the same 500g jar, and is now dearer than the Brand Leader Coffee Mate. I do like the product but it is certainly no where near as good as Coffee Mate.
I can only assume that this massive mark up is a prelude to a fake special offer on the product. I know this may be a legal loop hole in the law but it is immoral and tantamount to conning the customer.0 -
In Savers chemists today: two packs of Dove 50g soap for £1.00
Bought separately: a bar of 75g Dove soap would cost 49p.

I buy cotton wool/buds for cosmetic use. However, if you buy them in the 'cosmetics/beauty' section you pay double the price for the same amount in the baby section.
Example:
At Boots, 200 cotton buds in the baby section cost 65p but for the same amount in the cosmetics section it costs £1.05!
and 100g of cotton wool pleat = £1.45 in the cosmetics and £1.59 for 200g in the baby section!

Baby wipes are a bug bear of mine.
when my DS was little there were 100 wipes to a pack then it went down to 80 in a pack, then 70, 67 and now I spotted Huggies 54 to a pack  and I noticed today that Wilkinson's have changed the packaging on their basics ones and increased the price from 47p to 77p what a rip off :mad:Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I wonder how many people, like my OH, automatically pick up the value assuming it's the cheapest?Dum Spiro Spero0 -
