I agree with all the posts. One of my bugbears that supermarkets play these games. My local Aldi and Lidl seem to avoid these tricks.
On a related and very obvious note - don't forgot to check your till receipts before you leave the store as well. I find the big ones, especially Tescos are the worst culprits, always leaving me out of pocket rather than the other way round.I very rarely have a problem with smaller or independant/local shops.

As I only shop for me, I've reverted back to buying what I need and not the "bargains" that appeared to save me money.
The only exceptions are items I buy regularly because then I can see if it IS a bargain." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

The latest possible ASDA pricing "silly".
The new reduced salt OXO cubes, 71g/12 cubes (beef & chicken only, they don't sell the vegetable ones for some reason) were on offer for £1.00. This morning, the price on the website has almost doubled to £1.95. Sainsbury's & Tesco still have them (and the vegetable ones, BTW) at £1.05 and £1.07 respectively. It almost makes me wonder if someone has miskeyed £1.05 as £1.95.
PS. And yes, give your receipt a quick check on the way out. This is a case of "do as I say, not as I do", as I didn't on my last trip to ASDA, and I now have a problem with some "3 for £10" wine. All three bottles were definately in the offer on the shelf label, but two weren't in the offer and £3.00 each on the till. Whilst £3.00 is cheaper than £3.33, it means that I got charged full price for the third one.
I can't blame ASDA: as the price of the 2 bottles was going down, they updated the tills first. If I'd bought 3 bottles for £9.00, I'd be laughing. I'm sure the nice CS people will sort it out with smiles all around.
I always get small refunds like this put onto my savings card, and redeem this every Christmas. Last year, I had just over £10 on it, ie. 3 bottles of wine! I like the way it turns something slightly bad into something very good.
PPS. Wine problem sorted amicably. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I would love it if I never had to step inside a supermarket again, I hate the places. I hate the way everyone seems to drift around the aisles all going in the same direction (apart from the odd renegade granny) chucking stuff in the trolley and the bright migraine inducing lights.
I hate the way the supermarkets control shoppers, they tell us they sell what we want but that's rubbish, we buy what they want us to buy, because many people have no other choice as there's no other independent shops around, the supermarkets have closed them all. In my small town there's a really poor quality butchers and a Greggs, I would love a decent butchers, a decent bakery and a decent grocers but they've all closed. If I want to buy something like flour or butter I have no choice but to go to the supermarket.
I hate the strangle-hold they have on this country. :mad:Dum Spiro Spero0 -

I think the problem is people like us are in the minority, I think most people just walk round the aisles chucking what they want or need into the trolley. My guess is the supermarkets got rid of the scales in the fruit & veg aisle because not many people used them, most people just pick up the nearest pre-pack.
It seems to take so long now to do the shopping because I'm constantly checking or comparing prices, someone who has children with them or a few minutes after work just wouldn't have the time to check prices.Dum Spiro Spero0
