How have they 'stolen' when they collected money approved by the people in question?
Sorry to sound insensitive but if you only discover something like that months and months later then the key learning should be to check your statements each month.0 -
I have been skulking around on these boards for a while and wanted to add my two penneth worth.
I am a member of Complete Savings, still in my free trial month and received my £15 bonus check yesterday. I have currently got £3.20 saved up in cashback. I have checked what stores they are affliated to and they include Anna Scholz (which I love) and Lulu Guinness (which I would love to love but out of my price range). So for me? I think that it is worth it. You also get a chance to buy gift vouchers (£25 for only £20). However, I was fully aware what I was signing up for when I did this. If people are being fooled, then I can understand the anger towards this company.
So in short, it isn't a scam but be aware of what you are signing up for and if it works for you.......Saving for Christmas 2017 £120/£400 :beer:0 -
I would never go so far as to call something a direct scam, but I've seen these pop up and was less than impressed. At the very least it is misleading and I feel should be reported to the correct authorities - unsure who that would be.
The way in which they market their product feels very much like they are initially masquerading as the business with whom you just completed a transaction. It was only because I look very very carefully at anything which asks me for my debit card details that I realised they are an entirely different company.
My personal belief, and I hope that MSE takes this up, is that the way to stop this is to prevent companies from selling them space to their customers - potentially under the data protection act of some kind. They market themselves based on the fact that you have just completed a transaction. This fact, that you just bought something, should be covered under data protection also, not just the details of the transaction.
I have no problem with companies offering a subscription service which provides discounted purchase of goods, it's a perfectly acceptable 'economies of scale' business model which can potentially help both consumers and suppliers, but it needs to be marketed for what it is. People need to be fully clear as to what they are buying and from who.
"Click here to claim your £10 voucher" after you have bought a ticket is misleading and doesn't cut it.Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.0 -
We had also mistakenly signed up for the Complete Savings scheme.
On contacting Complete Savings and filling in the required form we were able to get a full refund of 12 x £10 payments.
We faxed the form to their Swiss office and were refunded in three days.0 -

You didn't check your statements for a year?
We have upwards of 100 items per month on the credit card statement - should have paid more attention!
Only when we switched credit cards (more AirMiles on an alternative card) and this single item came through on the old credit card did the alarm bells start ringing.
Lesson learned!0 -
I just noticed that somehow Complete Savings has been charging me £10 a month for three months since I bought a ticket from Wizz Air, when I stupidly registered for a voucher for £10 or £15 off my next flight. I'm not particularly daft, but I have no recollection of being told it was a subscription, or entering my credit card details separately to buying the ticket. When I realised I was being billed I rang their customer line (0800 389 6960) and spoke to some american-sounding woman with bad attitude who briefly tried the terms and conditions argument, tried arguing that I must've signed up separately and given my credit card details blah blah, to which I said I did not and I want my money back. And hey presto, she just immediately agreed to refund my credit card. Funny that.0

I noticed complete save taking £10 a month from my account after 3 months. Not having a clue what it was, i googled them and found lots of other people had this money taken from them also. I realised it came from when i bought something from argos. I was offered £15 off my next purchase, and thinking this was similar to the offers £10 voucher with every £100 spent and so on, i proceeded to claim. As soon as it asked me to sign up to something i gave up realising it was a waste of time. Just getting that far then led them to sign me up. I did not enter card details, they must have got them from argos. I never received £15 off, or any details of how to claim, or even what the service offers in the first place. They have agreed to refund without a fuss for which im pleased. Im sure they have a great service for people who are aware of signing up to it, and people who are given info on how to use it. But for me, i feel like i have been completed cheated out money for nothing.0
