i'm jealous ... i want my debt free date in 2008!!!

Its currently at Jan 2009, due to stupid loan, but if I can eventually!!!! get my PPI cancelled, it would be a hell of a lot sooner!

Yours isnt far off anyway hun. Just think when the new challenge starts and you do super well and dont spend your £10, you can throw it all at your debts, and that will help LOADS!

Well I say loads............ quite a bit :)

Well folks - I checked in last night and we were all doing quite well but suffering from sore throats etc & I go to work & check in tonight & we are all super charged and up and running!!

For me the best thing is I can check my balance when I've been paid - work out payments dds etc and now know that's it!! No more cash back or cash withdrawals to 'see me through the week!' I am starting to feel in control instead of kidding myself11
  • Only spend for me today was 37p on postage for something I sold online. Awaiting payment for 2 more things, plus I still have a lot more stuff to list as well.

I checked my current account this morning, I have about £150 left in there, and I've already transferred over £200 to savings this month. I've ended up spending an extra £30 on petrol to drive to work as the guy I car share with has been on a course, but I used to have to pay that anyway until he moved so we could car share.

Roll on friday I am going to take great delight in moving money around and increasing my savings. It's also bonus month (we get quarterly bonuses) so that's an extra couple of hundred to use to pay back my mother.

  • I've done really well, only bought essential things and nothing unneccessary (despite being tempted lots of time), and now I'm stuck: have to go out for a meal tomorrow, can't postpone it, can't cancel it either. Well, will just have to buy the cheapest there is and cover it with my grocery budget. D***, thought I did so well with grocery budget and Lent challenge

Well, at least because of being so good this month, I have some money left at the end of the month, so that's actually quite good  (walkes off being cheerful again!)

Look at it this way, atleast you can go out tomorrow and know that you aren't going to end up going overdrawn or putting the cost on a credit card.

    Love the logic Shirley!

No spend for me, so just using this evening to relax and stare at my budget until the answer smacks me in the face!!!!

    LOL
That and I get to wait for Asda Wo/Man to show up with my groceries!!

I have a major problem with my DH. Now that I am saving all this money he has taken to going to the pub for 'a few' pints after work every day! I have just found he took another £60 out of current account today. I am feeling like there is no point to me continuing the challenge, or taking part in the next one either.

    Awwwwwww PoohBear hun.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you could try explaining to him that the money was to pay for debts?

Looking at your sig you're pretty close to getting there.
Maybe ask him for the change :)
Its definitely not fair that he's taking your hard saved money down to the pub every night.
Is it possible that maybe you could set up another account to put in the money that you're saving?
Would he have taken it out if you'd had £60 less in your account, or does he not really check the amount in there before he withdraws it.

And you should definitely continue with us hun, thats what we're all here for, supporting each other in whatever issues come up.
I think the best thing to do is to talk to him. Maybe not tonight if he's had a few, if he's anything like my OH, he wont understand a word anyway! Maybe ask him to make sure that he's home straight from work tomorrow, that you've got something you need to talk about. Do it all with a clear head!

Thanks CAFCGirl, you are right probably not much point talking to him tonight. And no he never checks how much is in the current account, although now that debts have gone down a lot he obviously feels he is entitled to a treat for all his hard work. I think it is just that I am so determined to have zero debt and live within our means. We have got over the HUGE hurdles of being £23,000 in debt and the last bit is so difficult because cars keep breaking down etc. I want to start tackling the mortgage next, maybe I am just too impatient.
Right, I'll talk to him tomorrow and stop fretting so much tonight. Sons need guidance in the kitchen if we are to get an evening meal.
