Giving up Money for Lent

Morning Jet!
Nice to see someone is upbeat and positive about it!
I've realised that one thing I might need with the 40 days will be hair conditioner. Gonna be searching the internet for how to make some out of my kitchen cupboard, I've heard of oil, and even eggs. Just make sure you rinse with COLD water..........
the scrambled look is so last year!!!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I think I might combine this with flyladies plan as I haven't done that yet and they will finish within a week of each other.
I put my car in the bargain pages and need to hoover it but I can't reach the car with the extension lead and was going to take it to the garage and do it but that costs money.....
I'm going to go out with a dustpan and brush and give it my best shot instead!!!JUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0 -
HI CAFCgirl.
I think it's a great idea and will be joining you as far as my own spends are concerned (no munches and no coffees when working in town). However as my 'non-essential' expenditure mostly consists of pocket money for the kids, taking them swimming and the occasional little treat for their lunchboxes, I don't feel I can cut it out.
Also my mum is taking us all to the theatre on Saturday - her shout but I will feel obliged to buy ice creams in the interval.
So whenever familial obligations allow, I am with you.
However my main Lent thing is to give up spending hours on this site every day so I had better log off now!

I've often seen hoovers advertised on Freecycle - if you have a freecycle near you, post a wanted one.
Alternatively, if you live anywhere near Redhill, Surrey, you are welcome to one that we found in a skip that is rather small and lightweight but does actually work.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Just a technicality for you all: Lent lasts until the day before Easter and the 40 days are calculated on six days a week (not including Sundays, as in Christian tradition these are always a celebration). The last day of Lent is in fact Saturday 7th April.
Technically, in Church tradition, the stuff you give up for Lent doesn't apply on Sundays. But all you need to do to get round being tempted by this one is to boycott Sunday shopping as wellOperation Get in Shape

Great idea and good luck to you all. I'm going to give this a go too. There are a few things I have to pay for like clubs my children go to but i've budgeted for that. We're going away on 31st March so I hope I don't offend anyone by including Sundays in my 40 days. I'll be extra good to make up for not keeping going until the 7th April. This is just what I need.
One query, my car went in for it's MOT and service this morning. Do I,
a) not pay and do a runner with it
b) pick it up and pay because I'd already budgeted
c) let hubby pick it up and pay because then technically I've spent nothing.
Ok, no squandering money! Now what can I have for lunch???January budget
Nothing left!0 -
Ooh yes, please count me in.
Buying coffee while I am waiting for the kids at karate.....
Buying chocolate just because there is a "y" in the day of the week.....
Definately need to do this challenge and looking forward to it already.
