Is it the idea of having to pay then claiming back ?
I have vulnerable parents (in law). Disabled and not very "with it".
My MIL doesn't carry many card now after having her bag stolen at a supermarket.
Whilst most delivery men are honest I wouldn't want them to have to worry or get conned, so I think it's easier for them to not have to "pay & claim".
They also would not be capable of filling out a claim form (even if it's dead simple).
I usually do paperwork like that for them, but they sometimes have to wait 3-4 weeks.
For some people I think it does put them off.
But First Call (for example) is still not that much more expensive, so there some cheaper options around that the expensive services.0 -
Hello all,
I thought I'd let you know that ASDA offer breakdwon cover, provided by the RAC (infact the signup is via their page), only quite a bit cheaper.
The following is included in their policy;
* Roadside
* At Home
* Recovery
* Accident Care
* Legal Care
For £73.92 all in, but even better, you can pay this on an Interest Free direct debit which works out at £6.16p per month.
The link is http://www.asdafinance.com/
This is basically the RAC solution 3 (usually costs £102 online direct with the RAC.) The cover is for the car, not the piolicy holder.
I hope this helps someone. I understand it's not the cheapest full service about, but worth a look.
Regards
Weemee
P.S. - sorry if someone has already posted this, the thread is too long!0 -
Hi,
I rang autoaid and have been told that I can have joint cover with my girlfriend (whom I live with) unless we're married. So instead of a joint policy for £36 it will cost £72. Is that right?
Thanks,

I'm confused...
I understand the using Tesco clubcard points to buy RAC cover but not how to use the cashback sites. I've looked on here but I'm baffled.
How can I use a cashback site to pay when I'm not 'paying' (ie. using vouchers)???Broadband £180 - £0 won0 -
I bought breakdown with Europ Assistance through Moneysupermarket last year which was Martin's "best buy" at the time. Only had to call them out once but they were great and rescued me from the M1 in under an hour. Policy was £40 and this includes partner driving, homestart and recovery to the garage of my choice in event of a breakdown (not just nearest one to breakdown site, which many of the cheaper policies do). I would def recommend them to moneysavers.
Just watch out at renewal time though - they change the terms of your policy and put up the price, so for £5 more per year they take away the homestart cover (unless you pay an additiona £20 premium!). If you let the policy lapse though you can go straight back onto MoneySupermarket and renew for £40 including homestart.0 -
I bought breakdown with Europ Assistance through Money Supermarket last year (Martin's "best buy") at the time. For £40 you get cover for your partner, homestart, onward travel and recovery to the garage of your choice (not just local garage as most cheaper policies require). I only had to call them out once but they were great and rescued me in under an hour. Definite recommendation.
When it comes to renewal however, do not let Europ assistance renew the policy for you. They will put the price up to their standard £45, but this does NOT include the homestart (which they require an additional £20 premium for). If you go back to Money Supermarket however, you can get a new policy with homestart included for £39.95.
