When was the sale?
If it was pre-2005 when the card was taken out you might as well forget hopes of any fast refund as it's pre-regulation - you can try the store, who will reject it, then santander, who will reject it but then try the underwriter and you may get lucky, couldn't say either way
If it helps I have just had a PPI claim from a credit card card taken out in 1988 upheld by the FOS.

Credit card is not the same as store card, banks have to consider complaints as they were members of an early regulatory body, store cards did not come under regulation until 2005Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The only way they could not realise they still had it was to not check their bank statements.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi. I bought a car from Fords in 1990 and I remember it was a interest free loan and I had some sort of insurance that meant that I could claim money if I was off sick off work, but Im sure I was told this was a condition of the loan to have this insurance. I claimed once. Would this be a PPI? The direct debit/standing order was via my nat west account. So who would I write to, try to claim PPI mis selling ? Dont think I have any paper work.

15 years before they were regulated, complete non-starter I'm afraidSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

You would complain to the dealer who sold it to you. However, 1990 is 15 years before dealers were regulated. So, the dealer can tell you that they were not regulated and are not required to consider your complaint. Although they may just as easily say that they dont have any documentation from that period (which is almost certainly the case).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). My bank came to me saying they had missold me PPI and then made me an offer. Given i didn't even know this was the case i want to make sure they don't owe me more! Can i trust that the bank has offered me the full amount of what they owe? And if not, what do i do?
Thanks!0 -
Hi
Hope someone on here can help impart their knowledge my way.
About a year and half ago I made my own ppi claim with Lloyds by filling in their forms however it was refused and I thought nothing of it.
Then about five months ago I made a ppi enquiry with a claim firm for all my old accounts with various banks. However after a couple months I received a letter from Lloyds stating that due to an internal review of all their previous rejected ppi claims they now admit that I was due ppi payout of £2100 and paid me direct into my Lloyds current account.
I presume that was the end of it however last week I received a call from the claims company saying that they has secured me a ppi payout and that they would now invoice me for their 25% fee.
So in summary my question is do I actually owe them this fee as the the payout was as a result of my initial claim and not there and they seem to be taking the credit for it. I have disputed this with them i just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on my dispute?0 -

You employed them to send a letter in. They did that and have received a payout where you agreed to pay them.
You can dispute it but expect them to be quite aggressive in getting paid.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
