  • I had a credit card for over 14 years, to cut a long story short I started to struggle to pay off the debt and made a settlement offer to them, which they accepted. Can I still claim PPI back even though I closed the account with the partial settlement?
  • Hi I had credit/loan with preference Gold and Lasia premium but have no paperwork just detail on bank statement does anyone know address to contact these companies
  • We were sold ppi at a reg vardy showroom when purchasing a car with finance from welcome finance, reg vardy adv us that we could not purchase the car without taking out ppi even though we advised that we did not want it , reg vardy rang welcome finance and once again they said we had to take it. We have tried to claim it back and welcome have said they are not paying as they are not the broker and they did not sell it to us even though the payments were made them , Where do we stand in this situation?

The seller has the liability. So, Reg Vardy is who you complain to. Sounds like the BS came from the seller as well as they get the commission on the PPI.

Did they fail before 2005 or after? (FSCS protection came in at the start of 2005 for firms that were trading on or after that point. Not for firms that failed before that point).

  • I have mortgage ppi from 2003 - although it's set up as a separate DD I feel I was mis-sold as felt pressured to accept and it was through same same company as my mortgage (alliance & leicester). I'm going to be brave and attempt to reclaim using your helpful info and letter templates. One quick question though - the ppi was originally alliance & leicester, but it is now underwritten by pinnicle insurance - who do I send the claim to as alliance & leicester are now part of santander?

    any ideas anyone? :)

A&L retailed their own product. That is not a valid complaint reason.
They are required to make you aware of your shortfalls and needs and "disturb" you on the consequences to encourage you to take it out.

If you felt the pressure was too much then why did you not complain 9 years ago? Why now?
who do I send the claim to as alliance & leicester are now part of santander?
Santander. However, you really need to firm up your complaint reason as its very weak at the moment. It is just an unprovable verbal allegation at present.

  • :)I originally took out a pension with Axa (now Friends Provident) some years ago. I recently moved my fund to a new pension provider. On doing this I was informed that I had been paying a PPI to cover my premiums in the event I was unable to meet them. I was not aware I had this insurance and neither had I requested it. Furthermore I did not need it. Can I recover the premiums I paid for the PPI?

Pensions do not have PPI on them. It is not a product that the life companies offer. PPI is offered by general insurance companies. The only bolt ons with pensions are waiver of contribution or pension term assurance. Neither are PPI.

Both of those are also fully underwritten at point of sale and monthly premium. So, even if you wanted to complain about them, you have limited scope. Plus, most pension contracts are put in place under an advice process which involves a factfind, needs analysis and suitability report. Giving a very strong audit trail.

If you were to complain what would your reasons be and what evidence do you have to support it?
