  • Reason why I would like to go back to 1996 is, it was then I took out my 1st credit card n loan. I wanted to know who it was with n how much it was

You can send Subject Access Request (SAR) letters to all your old lenders, but even this will likely only yield results from the last six years. Only if you've stayed with the same Bank for the period (and remain so) are you likely to get more.

Why do you want details from 1996?

About 20 years ago I was approached by what I though was market research and ended up signing up to high street clothing store. I wasn't working at the time and living with my folks. The account was cleared and closed sometime ago but I am unsure I it had/or if I signed up PPI. How do I find out about any of my catalogues at the far end of the 20 year scale if I do not have any paperwork around for them?
    Thanks any for help :)

You ask them if you had it.

I contacted my bank, but because I no longer bank there and do not have access to the old loan account numbers, they say I do not have a claim. Timescales are before my credit history listing so I cant check that either. I know I had several loans for car purchases, and took PPI as I was told I would have more chance of getting approved. But I cannot locate any information
  • I am trying to reclaim PPI from Welcome Finance and another firm but am unable to find address for them to send the form. Am confused do I now send these to the bank or do I have to keep searching?
  • I have recently been made an offer on PPI missold to me on two loans.
The second loan was a consolodation loan. Is it reasonable to argue that had I not been paying PPI on the first loan I wouldn't have had to take out so much on my consolodation loan and therfore this should be considered when the bank arrives at its compensation figure?

No. The redress will be a refund of the premium paid in the first one (minus any partial rebate) and a refund on the second one.

  • All,

Sorry for a probably often asked point but am at work and limited access at moment to search.

For any old cards / loans that are now closed I do not have account number details etc. How do I proceed. I have the names and dates (recent credit history check for new mortgage)

    Thanks
