Without any paperwork that I can recall, how on earth do I try and find out if I ever did have PPI?
You can write Subject Access Request (SAR) letters to all your lenders

But, as Dunston says, the cold callers know nothing about your personal financial circumstances and so it would be a waste of £10 per SAR.

    hello

about 10 years ago i took a loan out with lloyds tsb & feel i was pushed into buying income protection insurance.
i was told i pretty much had to have it as it would be the only i could protect myself against repayment demands if i lost my job which true or not i now am not happy with the scare monger tactic employed.

had i known then what i know now i would never have taken it out and feel i was pushed into it but is this the same as ppi or something entirely different & therefore ineligeble.

    thanks

It is not PPI. The product is very different (fully underwritten at point of sale - medical questions asked etc). It is put in place under a different process (full advised - so factfind, needs analysis, suitability report will all exist). It is also regarded as one of the most important insurance products you can buy by all concerned.

You'll wait up to 3 months, and they'll either send you a cheque or if you still bank with them, they'll credit it to your account.

  • Hi I had ppi or asu when we took out our morgage through the Right To Buy services. I contacted abbey and they said that they were not responcable for the asu and I need to contact RTB company for reclaim of payments. I am stuck now as RTB isn't a bank.

The seller is responsible. You mention Abbey which suggests it is pre 2005. If so, you have no-one to complain to as they no longer exist. Game over. If its post 2005 then you can complain to the FSCS. However, dont expect success. FSCS reportedly only uphold 5% of complaints against mortgage brokers.

  • Hello All,

My wife has submitted a PPI claim and it is being dealt with by Money Matcher, they initially requested £10 for data protection for one account, which she has paid. This has now turned in to six requests for other accounts.

Their terms and conditions, FAQ's and website do not mention anything to do with requiring payments to process the claim.

Is this acceptable and are other claim handlers doing the same? I've not read anything else saying this is what handlers do

    Regards,

    David

If you have no information and the accounts are closed, you need to send a SAR and £10 to each company you had PPI with.

Claims handlers (even "good" ones) have only one aim; to make money from you. If you are asked or required to pay money upfront of any claim then you should find another CMC or simply do it yourself!

Having said that, Subject Access Request (SAR) letters do cost £10 each but why are they requesting SIX of them?
