I feel that if I pay Santander the money then they should be accountable

That is wrong. Why should Santander have to pay out when they have done no wrong. The firm that sold it to you was in the wrong (in your opinion). The seller has the liability for the sale. Not the product provider who had no staff involvement in the sale.
have even tried contacting the sun for help but to no avail

Game over for you. Even the Sun wouldn't blame someone who had nothing to do with it.

I can't tell whether that is meant to be ironic or not...

The missing smilie didnt help. However, thinking about it, the Sun has never cared who they blame. Facts have never been their strong point.

I phoned G.E. Money to complain about mis-sold PPI, they said that the mortgage obtained through a broker. They gave me the name and address of the broker, but were not sure if they were still there. All my payments were to G.E. Money, can they pass the buck back to the brokers. Hope someone can shed light on this one. thanks.

The broker sold it to you, not GE Money so they aren't passing the buck. You have the wrong end of the complaint stick.

If the broker sold it to you before January 2005, they weren't regulated then either, so your complaint will be over straightaway.

Very easily and correctly. They didnt sell anything to you. So, they are not liable for the sale. You dont complain to Panasonic about the way Currys sold a xyz company product.

  • Hi I have 3 or 4 accounts 2 with monuments and 1 with Lloyds tsb which ppi was charged without my permission - I can supply the dates and lenders names but unfortunately I have no longer access to any of the account numbers relating to them. I searched my banks passed history of the Lloyds debit account which was used to pay the direct debits on them and they are listed but don't give me amy info of account numbers - what can I do ? can I still try to claim ppi back without the account numbers ? and where do I start? paul

PPI would not have been charged without your permission, you would have signed to say you wanted it but you don't remember. If it was a credit card, it would have appeared on every statement with an outstanding balance.

Anyway...if you don't know the account numbers, you will have to send a SAR and £10 to Lloyds to see what info is left. You only need the account number that the PPI was applied to [the loan nmuber or thecredit card number], not the PPI insurance account number.

    Hi,
I honestly don't think I have ever knowingly bought PPI, but I keep getting phonecalls from people who seem to know too much about me and say that I have had it in the past. When I ask them for more information, they insist that they send paperwork for me to sign first, so I usually just tell them they are wrong and put the phone down.

But I am now wondering if they really know something rather than cold calling on a whim?

Without any paperwork that I can recall, how on earth do I try and find out if I ever did have PPI?

    Hope someone can help?

    Thanks.

We all get those. They dont know anything about you. The only data in the public domain is who you have had mortgages or secured loans with as that appears on land registry.

They are sales reps paid a commission to get sign ups.
