If I am successful with my PPI claims on the settled loans ,will this also be offset against the unpaid loan?
Any money awarded will be offset against the money you still owe.

  • I have been receiving texts from mobiles telling me that records state that I could claim up to [certain amounts] for mis-sold PPI and to contact them. I did on a couple of them and got called back, but it was difficult to understand the caller - I usually have no problem understanding an accent from the mainland (I'm from Northern Ireland) but I had difficulties understanding these people. I gave up and didn't bother following them up. I did hear from someone that companies should not state an amount to be claimed when they are contacting someone regarding PPI because this is illegal - is this correct? And which is the best way to go to claim PPI back - via mobiles, TVs and other advertising (even magazines are doing it now), the lenders, or this website? It's definitely (to use a well-known website) confused.com.

Any help will be gratefully received. :undecided

We are all getting these scam messages. The companies that send them are being investigated and shut down but they pop up quicker than they can be closed.

It is best not to respond so scams. You find your details sold onto other scammers as you end up on a mugs list.

    It is misrepresentation and fraud.

You complain to the seller of the policy giving your reasons for complaint. Very simple.

  • Credit card PPI - Bank of Scotland

I feel certain I was 'mis-sold' because if I had been clearly asked I would have said 'no', and i was surprised to see the insurance on my statement. So I don't know how it happened.

I would have said 'no' because I am self employed.

So I feel cross that it happened - but I suppose I should have corrected it at the time.

Anyway, tried the claim - rejected.

I'm not sure what they need to hear. I realise that 'I don't remember agreeing to it' might be true for me, but is a bit weak. I don't remember the question 'would you like an insurance policy to cover your payments in the possibility of your unemployment?' .

I'm going to challenge - but don't want to say anytihng that will weaken my position.

    Any thoughts, good people?

Nice clean complaint reason and fairly easy to respond to by the credit card company. If you have only had the credit card for a few months then your complaint is highly credible and would likely result in a refund. If you have had the card for years then you start losing credibility and the longer it has gone on, the harder it gets to be seen as credible. Anything more than 6 months and you are probably looking at a rejection on that reason (assuming no other failure)

How long are you talking about with your time paying PPI?
