Hi all,
I received a questionaire from ocean almost 4 weeks ago asking me to fill it in as I may have been mis sold ppi. I filled it in and received a reply saying they are looking into it.
I took out a secured load over 25 years for 25k and paid a single payment added to the load of 15k!!! which I didn't realise only covered me for 5 years and cost 5k and the other 10k was interest added on!!
Does anyone think I'm in with a good chance of receiving a refund? Any advice would be much appreciated, especially if you have been through something similar.
Thanks lilminx0 -

Yes. Single premium front loaded PPI is disliked by the FOS. It is one of the main reasons for loan PPI to be upheld.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). My brother and his wife are quite possibly due something re this. Problem is they emigrated back in November 2007. Is there anyway of finding out if they are due anything with them being away. I have their last address's for time they were in this country but all of their paperwork re financial stuff was destoyed when they left the country.0

You need to give us a reason for complaint if you want us to comment on whether we feel you have a case or not. If it is just because you are self employed then that is unlikely to work as the TMPP does cover self employed individuals assuming you are referring to the PPI element of that plan (and you have it). If you have the life assurance or critical illness or income protection parts of the plan then self employment has nothing to do with those.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I am considering claiming back from our current mortgage lender who we are paying, what we consider to be an awful lot of money per month for payment protection. The bank is C&G, we are wary because, as I said they are our 'current' lender and we feel that it may damage our relationship with them. Worst case scenario that we can see is that they cancel our protection, or withdraw our mortgage all together!
If the protection is cancelled surely I can get another MPPI?
We have been with them for a number of years and remortgage a couple of times.
Any advice would be greatly received. :mad:0 -

Cost is not something you can complain about. The bank is C&G, we are wary because, as I said they are our 'current' lender and we feel that it may damage our relationship with them. Worst case scenario that we can see is that they cancel our protection, or withdraw our mortgage all together!

You dont appear to have a valid reason for complaint. C&G set their protection up correctly. So, there wont be a technical failing there. Your only comment has been on cost but that is not something you can complain about (and get success).
You dont expect bank products to be cheap. Banks rarely are. Typically they are 25-40% more expensive than IFA products. However, that is not something that is a valid complaint reason. If you buy a bank product then you pay their prices. Prices which are disclosed before you agree to it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I apologise if this has been asked before but I have had a good trawl and can't find it specifically...
In short - PPI was on car loan I took out about 5-6yrs ago. I was self employed at the time and advised this was all good. The car has subsequently been sold and loan paid back.
My question is this - The financial institution was Singer Friedlander. They went in to administration in Oct 2008. Is there any way to put a claim in or is it just going to end up in the creditors list? Perhaps not even that?
Many thanks,

What happens when a lender replies to request for information that they cannot trace the credit agreement? I'm on a dmp so still paying these people so would like to find out if I had PPI on the original loan to go towards paying some of it off.0
