Hi All
Since the early 1990s i took out Mortgages and various loans and credit cards. Is there some way i can find out what loans/Mortgages and Card accounts I had as I no longer have the paperwork related to all these accounts. I can remember some but not all of the companies. Totally bewildered where or how to begin
No. There is no way to tell apart from your own records and memory.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. We can stop there. brokers did not become regulated until Jan 2005. You bought 6 years prior to regulation.
Although you didnt actually state you had PPI or there was anything wrong it. It doesnt matter though as its pre-regulationI am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi not sure if I'm in right place. I claimed PPI over the phone through a claims company and recieved confirmation from RBS and amount they were going to pay good news. Letter arrives from said company with an invoice ok fine but photocopied copies docs enclosed belong to someone else😨. So where and who has mine it contains all my details they're charging a whack of cash for this service and if I wasn't an honest lawbiding citizen someone could use this persons details. Any ideas on what to do this is a data breach how many others are out there. How do I approach this company ? And do i contact the other party ?0

Its a minor clerical error. No action would come from it if you reported it to the data protection commissioner unless the company has been found to do it on a widespread basis. How do I approach this company ?
By letter of phone. its the sort of thing that gets you £50-£100 from a bank if they were to make such as error. And do i contact the other party ?
Up to you. It may be worth letting them know in writing. Perhaps sending them what you received.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi Everyone
I was after a little help - I successfully got all the PPI back from my husbands old loans a number of years ago .... apart from one which I could not get very far on so hoping someone can help.
This is for a PPI sold by a garage on a car loan. The loan was from black horse but all the PPI paperwork we can find on it references Financial Insurnace Company LTD who I assume are the underwriters. The garage is no longer there, black horse have said the loan did not have PPI, Financial Insurance Company have asked for copies of paperwork showing they are the underwriters ...... although I had already sent a copy of the direct debit mandate and a letter showing the agreement of the policy with the schedule - but they had not aknlowedged these documents..
Has anyone any advice? Anything else I can do I am missing?
Thanks0 -

The obvious one thing here is that the garage is liable for the complaint. Not Black Horse. There is a very small window where an insurer (underwriter) could be liable but it depends on the commercial relationship and the years in question. The underwriter route only works in a less than 10% of cases.
The company are probably asking for evidence to see if it is one that falls within dates and commercial agreements.although I had already sent a copy of the direct debit mandate and a letter showing the agreement of the policy with the scheduleI am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Banks routinely delete old records around six years after the accounts cease to be active. You know your account was closed a decade ago.
If you want to be certain the financial institution concerned has kept no records, you can spend £10 on a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter, which will require them to send you any and all records which are still on file.
But it does look as if any complaint you might make is over before it's begun...0
