You havent said what your complaint is. So, its hard for us to comment without knowing that.Deleted_User wrote: »Who did you have PPI with and why do you believe it was mis sold?
Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. PPI was likely with HSBC and/or First Direct. In at least one instance of credit card, loan, and mortgage applications, I was told that I had to have PPI or could not make an application.
Regards,

I only know for def that I had MPPI once, but maybe there were others, so I just started to try to find out. I knew it was going to be a pain. Falling at the first hurdle! - please can anyone help??
- The credit club experian report - it says on MSE that it should show entries for the last 6 years. My report only shows the last 12 months. What am I doing wrong?
- The MPPI I did have was with Furness Building Society and that doesn't seem to be listed on the reclaiming tool
- I did have a loan at one point with Northern Rock BS, which of course failed. Any way I can do anything about checking for PPI or making a claim with them?
Many thanks0 -
Thank you. We arranged our mortgage life and critical illness and sickness and accident insurance all at the same time in October 2004. We were basically told that we needed it for our mortgage. The IFA was a distant relative who had just started up and I suspect that were rather taken advantage of tbh. I guessed that we would probably need to claim direct with him, it's sadly not worth the upset it would cause. Thank you for your responses.0

IFAs were not regulated until January 2005. So, this is pre-regulation and the IFA does not need to consider your complaint.
Also, IFAs only account for under 1% of complaints at the FOS and most of those are rejected. The insurances you mention are quite typical of those those that people use when buying a mortgage. There are no issues with the insurances you mention (they are not PPI).
IFAs are required to make you aware of your financial needs. So, they would tell you what you need.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi, I was made bancrupt in 2009 but was contacted by a claims company for ppi last year. They proceeded with a claim which took over a year and suddenly I had substantial offer letters from Nat West. On reading the conditions of the offer it says I cant claim so I left it and did not return the signed acceptance. However the ppi company have invoiced me for nearly £6,000. Where do I stand if at all?0

You'll need to pay it, unless you can prove you told them about your bankruptcy.0

Someone who fell into arrears, defaulted, had amounts written off or went bankrupt or other debt reduction schemes should never ever use a claims company.
The claims company bills against the redress paid by the bank. Even if the money is not received by the person that employed them.
If you do employ a claims company, you are on the hook for their bill. However, there is a potential get out here. A claims company is required to make you aware that you will not receive the money in these scenarios. Most will not take you on because of that. So, if the claims company failed to tell you that you would not receive the money, they have breached their regulations.
You should complain to the claims company that they missold you their services as they should have told you that you would never receive this money as a bankrupt.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
