If you don't remember them (who does?) and you've kept no documentary archive of your own, then you are reliant upon the records of the financial institutions concerned. If they too no longer have records then you have nowhere else to go...

Didn't you post similarly over two years ago?

I successfully claimed Halifax for missold ppi on a mortgage & they paid out in November 2012. I recently found out about comparative redress so wrote to them asking for a breakdown of how my payment was calculated. I have now received their reply but the breakdown advises the monthly ppi amount paid was £23.84 but we actually paid £45 per month for 5 years. Does this sound like they have used comparative redress? Any help appreciated as I am struggling to understand how this works :o

Can anyone offer any help to me with this one? :o

Comparative redress would not have been used as that applies to single premium PPI. It is used when the PPI sale was otherwise OK but should have been sold as monthly premium.

Won't be comparative redress. Not possible on monthly premium.

For most of the last 20 years, Halifax plans have been multi-segment. MPPI was just one of the segments (the others could be life assurance, critical illness cover and income protection). You could have any combination of these. So, maybe that £45pm was made up of say life assurance and MPPI. As the complaint was about MPPI, they only refund that segment.

    Further update from me.
HBOS have upheld my complaint, very unexpectedly!
So, they are compensating me £800. That is £1600 between HBOS and MBNA, for the one credit card account.
I also took the card out online, so I thought it was very unlikely to get anything but did remember speaking in branch to an advisor prior to applying online.
    I'm very happy!
  • I took out a car loan in 2000 and ppi on the finance but thought i had no chance of claiming it back as the company (yes car finance had stopped trading) every where i turned kept turning me down. I remember seeing Martin Lewis who said keep trying and if they turn you down go to the ombudsman so i did . It has took 3 years and i just forgot about it and let it run its course, and finally received a letter yesterday saying that our complaint was upheld against pinnacle insurance and that they had offered us a full refund plus 8% interest that comes to over £2500. Thanks Martin wouldn't have done it without you.

I have not claimed anything yet as I am confused how to go about this myself. I do not want to pay a company lots of money but I do not know my old credit card details or t's & c's so feel claiming myself will be difficult. Any suggestions on how to start? Should I use a company?

Contact the banks you had the cards with and ask if they have any info on you, give as much info as you can to help them.

Look for statements in old paperwork.
If you find you did have PPI, you will need reasons for mis sell.

If you get no joy, neither will a claims co.

    hi,

I have been reading and watching info about PPI for along time now and i have a niggling feeling i may have had some ppi on a protected loan i had about 10 years ago - might be sooner but not sure

I still have the same bank that i used to pay the account on so i could find out the dates and amounts paid and a direct debit reference but apart from that i wouldn't have any other paperwork for it.

I know the company name and it shows on my credit history - do u on the forum think it would be worth pursuing as it is probably over the 6 year time frame.

any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    Rob.
