PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi I need to ask a question. I had a call from a company saying I was entitled to PPI. I had claimed previously with my bank and told the caller this. They said I may not have claimed for all accounts & they would look at it and let me know. They sent me a letter which I signed & sent back. I again rang the & said I had already claimed. I was told it was ok and if it turned out I had claimed everything there was no fee. I had confirmation form my bank that this company had asked but all accounts were settled. I assumed that was it which was over a month age. Today I received a bill from said company for £990!!!
I rang them and explained the situation and a manager is meant to be ringing me back next week. If they pull the telephone conversations I had with them they will see I had told them I had already claimed...... Wondered if anyone could tell me where I stand with this now. Thanks Anthony0 -
Hi there, really sorry if this is already answered but would appreciate your advice on our situation. We claimed PPI recovery on 3 loans with the Co-Op bank. We had a letter come through a few months ago with an offer of settlement for nearly £12,000. Now the problem, due to family issues I put the letter to one side and did not sign it - I know - stupid. I then found the letter about 6 months later, realised how stupid I had been signed it and sent it back. The Co-Op bank have refused to pay out as I did not return the letter within 14 days. Do I have to start again? or go to the Ombudsman? or go back to the bank regarding their decision. I am really worried that I have lost our family this amount of money. Any help or guidance would be really appreciated.0

There is no 14 days rule. There is a 6 month rule (you have 6 months to go to the ombudsman or you lose your right of access to them.
Can you tell us what rule Coop are referring to in their letter?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
They said that we had 14 days to sign the letter and send it back and because we did not do that then we had lost the right to the offer0

Ok. There is no such timescale defined in the regulations and they cannot enforce that.

Hi everyone.
First applied for a claim with Lloyds/Tsb back Feb, this year. Sent all the information I had like the account no. And proof of payment from past statements along with the claim form. I forgot about it for the first 12 weeks so then I contacted them via their only available telephone no. Every time you call this no. a recorded message informs you of an 8 week turn around time. As I am now reaching the 5 months stage only to be told each time I call that my case is still under investigation and that I no longer fall in to the 8 week scenario, what should I do to find about my case. Wait, wait and wait some more or do Lloyds/ Tsb have any other ways of being contacted.

Have you actually received a written acknowledgement that your complaint has been received? If so, your only recourse now is to refer it to the Ombudsman as having taken far too long.
If you haven't received any formal communication from them, you may have to resubmit your complaint...0 -
Sorry, Yes I did receive an acknowledgment letter. Forgot to mention it, but had to demand it after the first twelve weeks for my records. Just think it has dragged on for a bit now. When calling the help line, the operators are reading from scripts and not very good at replying to questions about length of time and cannot put you through to a n other.0

Choice is either to wait or refer to the FOS to join a longer queue (and the bank will probably stop investigating)
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi everyone,
I want to contact Egg, Natwest and Halifax to see if I had any PPI stuff on my various credit cards.
On the main Reclaim Credit Card PPI Free page (Sorry, as a new user I'm not allowed to post links) it says to send off a letter to and ask about any insurance products on my account. Meanwhile, everywhere else I look, I see reference to SAR letters.
So which one should I send? The first one, or a SAR?
Thanks!0
