On a brighter note, if there are any folks out there who find themselves in financial dire straits because of bank charges whilst on benefits, I'd recommend you look up the relevant section in the Social Security Administration Act of 1992 Section 187 (ironic as 187 is the crime number for murder; i.e. banks making a killing) It makes for interesting reading, and a few of my friends have managed to get their money back thanks to this act of Parliament.

Thanks for this xx it will help a lot of people.

Do as amersall has suggested above, make sure they are aware that YOU know it was front loaded and tell them to reconsider. Keep all previous correspondence as they have already acknowledged that they have records going back that far in their statement "after reviewing your contracts" If they then try to make out they have no records they will look like idiots.
Make it clear you will take it to the FOS if they do not change their decision ;)

They reset the card to a zero balance and calculate the ppi you paid, they return this to you and any time the card was in credit they do not pay you the 8% for those times.
CC ppi is a hard one to calculate, it is not as simple as loans!.

    Hi toni66,
Credit card redress is very difficult for anyone to work out with accuracy as they have to go back over the whole history of the card and if at any time you would have been in credit had the PPI not been included, then they would have to pay 8% standard interest on top of the PPI paid. I'm afraid you have to trust the banks to come up with an accurate figure, it is so much more complicated than loan redress :o
