If the sale was prior to 14th January 2005 and the company responsible is no longer trading and has no assets then there is no-one to complain to. Its game over.
Why have you written to your bank? The bank would only know its products. Not those sold by other people.
I am/was the owner of the company. I am still paying off the bank for an overdraft so even though the company was liquidated in November 2013 the bank account still exists , obviously not trading
Thanks

Ahh. Your original post read as if you were trying to complain to a company that no longer existed.

Sorry didnt explain. Was a limited company. Bank called the overdraft in which i am liable for so the bank account still exists. The last I heard from the bank in question was after my enquiry July 2014. They wrote to me and said its after 6 years past so they have no record of PPI on my overdraft facility or any loans. Also they say I have Business Overdraft Protection, whateever that is?
Thanks for your help0 -

Around twelve or thirteen years ago, I had a situation where, unfortunately, I became unemployed. In the previous six months or so, I had purchased a brand new (and quite expensive) car from Vauxhall and, as part of the deal, I took out PPI on the understanding that I would be covered in the event of becoming unemployed. I was at pains at the time to point out to the salesman in the showroom that my employment was on a contract basis but this did not change his attitude towards selling me the PPI.
When I made a claim, the loan company (this was direct through Vauxhall - GMAC) told me that I did not qualify as I had been employed on a contract basis in my previous job. As a result, I had to make at least three payments of nearly £500 each to cover the loan until I found employment again. I complained but did not get anywhere and ended up selling the car to pay off the loan (which included the cost of the PPI).
I have no records of the loan details or the PPI as this happened before any of the PPI reclaiming began but I am wondering, as I have a genuine complaint about a PPI where it was miss sold, is there anything I can do to get some compensation or is all of this too long ago?
Any help or advice would be gratefully received!0 -
Car dealers weren't regulated prior to Jan 2005, so they can dismiss your complaint.
If the dealership is still going you can send them a SAR and £10 to try and find any records but the likliehood is that they've destroyed the records, which they are entitled to do.
It's your decision whether or not to spend the £10Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi,
My Husband had PPI on a loan he took out in 2000. We looked at all the advice on MSE and filled out a form on the Barclays website. One week later we had a credit put in our Barclays bank account of £10,500.00. We have had a letter that said Barclays have found PPI on all our mortgage accounts, which we were completely unware of.
We have logged on to the banks PPI complains page and it still says our claim is being reviewed so we have no idea what the break down is or how much PPI we have paid out over the years without even realizing it.
It took an hour to fill the form, one hour got us over £10k.
Thanks for all your help MSE0 -
Hi, I have had a complaint against RBS in with the FO since August 2012, it was on the point of being heard by the Ombudsman in July this year. It was for PPI on a credit card, credit card opened in 2000 and PPI signed for just because I was naive, didnt read what I was signing and just signed where I was told to, daft I know. Once the PPI scandal came to light, I cancelled the policy in about 2010. Anyway, RBS decided to make me an offer in July, I have just received a cheque, no settlement statement or anything just a cheque and a letter saying my case is now closed. I was paying around £47 a month in PPI when I realised what it was and cancelled the insurance. By my reckoning the cheque they have sent me is far less than it should be for approximately 10 years of payments. Does anyone know what my next steps would be, or should I just take the cheque they have sent and chalk it up to experience? Hoping that someone can help because I don't know whether I should take this any further.0

You can ask them for a breakdown of how they arrived at that figure.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
