they shouldn't.
The way it usually works is the bank pays you, and then you pay the company.
Since you didnt employ the company to work on your behalf, and they can't prove that you did, then you don't pay them.
If they start blustering that you owe them money, or your ex starts telling you do, tell them you didn't employ them yourself, she did, and that you intended in the future to make a complaint without engaging the services fo a claims compnay so all their fees are her problem, not yours.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Insider101 wrote: »This is true, but a significant number of DCAs are, as the name implies, agents. Ie they are simply working to collect it on behalf of the bank and do not actually purchase the rights to the debt. They are just an outsourcer paid to chase the debt. In this situation I am not sure they would have the authority to decide what is or isn't acceptable in settlement?
That is true as in the case of say metroopolitan for HSBC and cabot it just depends as you say as to whether the debt has actually been purchased or is only collected, in any case i would say in your circumstances you would be better waiting until the debt is sold on then offering to settle under a full and final this is what i did, Good luck.0 -
 Hi, Is anyone else out there having the same problem as us.?
We wrote to our bank, with our PPI claim, and no surprise were turned down. After contacting the Ombudsman, they decided in our favour, but after two recommendations to the bank to pay up, the bank are still quibbling. How long should we be made to wait, is there anything we can do?.

Hi Signet, just have to sit and wait. My partner has the same problem, FOS adjudicators recommended upholding twice but will have to wait till it goes to the ombudsman for the final decision. Has been with the FOS sine January 2012. Hopefully they will agree with the adjudicators and we will get something at the end of it.0 -

HI MIKEY49,
We have been waiting for over three and a half years!, to get to this point, and just to add insult to injury, the bank have sent out a letter ,because I cancelled their PPI, Saying that we should contact them immediately to arrange payment and continue to "benefit from the financial protection provided by the policy"!!. The reason we cancelled, was because it did not provide cover for my husband when needed. [Worst still the letter was addressed to him]!.:mad:0 -
