Anybody had any luck with Barclaycard lately ? I've called them and put in two requests for them to check my PPI as believe it was mis-sold and despite them saying I would get a response to acknowledge this within 5-7 days I've heard nothing.

Not sure what to do next - should I write them letters as well ? I had thought they had to acknowledge receipt of a complaint within a specific timeframe but given I wrote to them on a claim for my husband's card back in October last year and never had a response I'm not holding out much hope and now sure what to do next !

Did you actually complain or did you phone them to check if you were paying PPI?
Did you fill in a questionnaire and send it to them with your husbands signature?

  • Hi,

This is the first and only claim I wish to make. The only thing is I have no agreement/policy number.

I took out car finance in 2004 at a Peugeot delearship, the finance was provided by GE Woodchester, The account was settled in March 2008. At the time I was told by the dealer that PPI was compuslory otherwise the loan wouldnt be provided. I had told the salesman that I didn't need it as I was a serving soldier and had job security, However he was adament that I needed it so I had no option to take it.

I am aware that Santander are now dealing with GE Woodchester PPI complaints but am unsure as to where that leaves me? I have read on a few forums that Santander tell you to deal with the Dealership directly, However who can provide me with my agreement number and tell me if i have a claim or not?

Anyones advice would be gratefully appreciated :)

It's irrelevant who the finance was provided by since they didn't sell it to you.

You can only make a mis-selling complaint to the dealer as they actually sold you the PPI. Unfortunately, 2004 was pre-regulation and so the dealer won't have to consider your complaint.

Having no account numbers or other evidence weakens your chances of a successful complaint still further.

    Thanks for the help Taff

I only have one question left to end my dilema. If I didnt know about the offer made in 2012 by Natwest and was only aware of the offer made in 2013 (Higher amount). Which was after the PPI company said the no longer represented me. Is it still their right to demand payment ?. Especialy for the offer in 2013, which is the one and only offer I was ever aware of.
I feel I should only pay them for the offer in 2012 of which I am loath to do in the first place.
I have contacted them to let them know I am willing to pay after I have accepted the offer, Once I have asked for advice on the matter and returned home.

Any advice, or am I pretty much a casualty of my own stupidity lol.
    I wont bother you again
    Cheers

Thanks kjd35aqua - I'll take a look and write to them as well. As we had written before and got nowhere I thought a phone call may be the way to go !

Taff - I knew I had PPI in the past but when I realised it was next to useless as I was already covered via work benefits I cancelled it. I called to put in a complaint, they took basic details said they'd pass it to the relevant department and I should get a letter within 5 days and I am still waiting !

As for my husband's Yes - standard form filled in taken from this site and heard absolutely nothing. When you call you just end up in a central call centre which isn't very helpful.

I realise that all sorts of people are putting in claims - we believe we may have been mis-sold for various reasons so will put our complaints in and see if they feel the same.

If the offer came form a time they did represent you, then they probably can. Without reading your contract, i can't say.
I wouldn't give them any part of the extra years interest though.

After hearing so many success stories I decided to try and reclaim PPI I had on a mortgage back in 2001-2004.

I had no documents for the mortgage so I contacted RBS directly to log my claim.

    The story is as follows:

RBS replied after 7 weeks to advise me I had no PPI-I complained by letter.

RBS replied stating I had no mortgage or PPI with them-I complained by letter again and opened a SAR requesting bank statements, PPI docs and mortgage docs.

RBS replied saying they would reinvestigate. (PPI dept)

RBS send out mortgage no and PPI no. (SAR dept)

RBS make a goodwill offer of £240 (PPI dept)

I pursue bank statements to prove offer has been calculated correctly. It takes 4 seperate requests and 100 days to obtain the bank statements after RBS admit sending the the previous 3 requests to an old address, despite having my current address.

The PPI claim was opened in July 2012 and the offer came in January 2013. (nearly 7 months to investigate)

I contacted RBS to express my displeasure at how the case had been handled and that the offer did not take into account the inconvenience experienced, financial losses incurred and the fact they were posting my sensitive personal information to an old address. They wrote back saying the offer was final and I could refer my case to the ombudsman if I wanted to.

My question is should I refer this to the ombudsman? Will I achieve a better offer? Or should I just throw in the towel and take the money?

Thanks from a hopeful newbie!! :(

If the offer is what you paid then I would accept, if the statements show more PPI being paid then I would send copies of these to the FOS and reject the offer also I would let them know the process and length of time it took to get the goodwill gesture.

The FOS are taking a long time but it may be worth it if you paid more and have the proof.
  • Hi

My credit card company has said that I must pay £10 underthe data protection regulations before they will investigate my PPI complaint - is this usual?

They are asking for £10 for a SAR to see your information. Did you ask them for the agreement?
