I want to take this further, as in to the Ombudsman, butwould really appreciate some advice on whether or not some seasoned PPIcomplainants think I have a case. My grounds for complaint in how this has beendealt with by Natwest are that I don’t believe the advisor took notice when Iadvised that my working hours were due to decrease, and that as I’m almost sureNatwest are unable to provide a transcript of the conversation that took placebetween myself and the advisor, they can’t prove that they acted properly or listenedto what I said, instead of adding the cover when it wasn’t actually relevant.

In answer to your first question, probably not.

It doesn't matter what you were about to do, it matters what your situation at the time was.

You could also have cancelled it at any time.

  • Hi, I am new to forums so apologies if I am getting it wrong or am a bit slow :o

Over the last 10 years we (hubby & I) have had quite a few credit cards for stoozing purposes and changed mortgages quite a few times (never been late with any payments). Now I am pretty good at keeping statements but not agreements so I have gone through the statements and nowhere can I find proof that we had PPI (except Tesco where it claimed that it offered "Free purchase protection insurance") also I rang Barclaycard who were very unhelpful by telling me that they couldn't find my details on their system as the account was probably closed over six yrs ago and when I told them it had only closed 3 years ago and I gave them card numbers they just said "sorry can't find you on the system".

My query is how do I know if I had PPI if nowhere on my credit cards statements shows if I have or haven't?

Also the same query for my previous mortgages.

    Thanks in advance!

With the Barclaycard, PPI will be on every monthly statement that you received, it may show as PPI or worded differently, if on your statements there are only transactions for card use and interest then PPI was not on there.

Some MPPI is hard to reclaim.
    Post the question here

They are best placed to help you how to find out if you had MPPI and if you did, how to claim it as a mis sell if you were mis sold.

I see the dreadful Esther Rantzen, as well as grabbing more money by promoting ambulance chasers, is now also endorsing a PPI claims company (on afternoon TV) please don't follow her advice ... DIY.

Just seen this advert and it makes me angry. I wonder if she would give this same "advice" to her family and friends. Does she really need this money?

She has sold out. You can never consider her a trustworthy campaigner ever again.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
  • Just thought I'd give an update about my referral to FOS at beginning of January for a couple of loans that Co-operative Bank refused. I received an acknowledgement about 2 weeks later and on Monday received a phone call from FOS just checking a few details and if I still wanted to go ahead which of course I did. So they said they would write to the bank. I know this may take upto 18 months but at least I know the ball is rolling.
  • Has anyone had a ppi claim against friends providence.originally countrywide assured.
  • After Creation Finance refusing my original claim for the ppi on my USC store card i wrote to them again asking to reconsider because I noted from the very bad copy of the agreement they sent me it wasn't my hand writing that the form was completed in even more reason to support my claim...they wrote back saying store assistants don't complete forms when customers leave the shop. letter sent to FSO 2 weeks ago and I am now in there que for someone to look into it, not holding out much hope. Out of them all creation are the only ones that refused!
