Unfortunately, if you stopped the PPI more than six years ago I doubt there will be any record of you having had it. You'll probably need documentary proof from your own archive.0 -

However, as the Ombudsman Questionnaire has been specifically designed to ensure that you answer all possible questions pertaining to your complaint, I advise you to fill that in. You can also write a cover letter if you wish.
Remember, the more (relevant) information you give the better. Don't make anything up, though; if you don't know the answer to a question it's acceptable to put "Don't know" or "can't remember"
Good luck!0 -
Your complaint is weak. You are asking them to believe something that cannot be proven. It is unlikely anything will exist that will support your allegation. So, on that basis you are relying on another failing being identified or getting lucky with an auto payout or the unlikely case of evidence supporting what you are saying.
Do you have anything better that you can use as a complaint reason?
Thanks for this - very usefull. I have put in a complaint on teh following basis.............All true so I hope it will yield a positive response!! Any thoughts?
1. I was not told that the insurance added to myaccount was optional and have since understood that this was not the case.
2. I was given the impression that my applicationfor a credit card would be supported by taking out the insurance and as suchwas a mandatory requirement.
3. I was informed that when my circumstanceschanged I would not need PPI however the policy remained in place for some 15years.
3. I had (and always have had) adequate personalcover to negate the need for the policy.

then you complain to whoever owns it now.
On a card, you only pay PPI on any outstanding balance, so if you paid it all off every month, you'll have paid no PPI, and as you say you stopped it, so if you stopped it straightaway, you haven't paid any.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

1 - they would have this written down somewhere
2 - you can't prove this
3 - changing the PPI was up to you
4 - your best bet.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi all.
I have a vague idea about PPI, but I dont know where to begin to see if I am entitled to claim anything back. Never had a loan or a credit card, but I do have a mortgage. Bank with HSBC. Can anyone help someone who completely has no idea.0 -

Phone your mortgage company and ask if you're paying it.
Check your bank statements to see if you're paying it with regards to the mortgage.
Ignore life assurance unless you are single with no dependants.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Your complaint is pretty much over.
You can try complaining to the insurer, but you'll have to find out who it is, and your chances there are also practically zero.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
