sorry if I am being thick, I have looked through and can't fine the info

I had some loans, but quite a few years ago, what is the time limit for making a claim, i.e. does the loan have to be within 5/10/??? years?

    Many thanks

At this time there is no deadline. However, they will change in future. The main problem as you go back further in time is the lack of documentation that will exist. Different firms destroy data at different rates. Some dont destroy anything.

  • Hi guys
Can somebody tell me if I can claim PPI on my loans and cards if I now live outside the UK
They were all taken out when I lived in the UK but I am not sure if I can if I don't live there anymore
I don't want to give them any excuses to get out of paying so wanted to check first.
    Thanks
  • Hello good people of MSE!

I hope someone might be able to help me with some advice please?

I recently went through my old accounts, to see if I had paid PPI on any of them. I know I had a loan previously with Bank of Scotland for £15k (started in 2003, completed in 2008), but no longer had the paperwork. I asked for it under the consumer credit act, and they refused, as the account was closed. So I asked under a SAR request, and the documents arrived today.

I DID pay for 'Personal Loan Repayments Cover in the event that I am unable to work due to involuntary unemployment, accident or sickness'.
I remember being in the branch, filling out the loan application with a bank employee, and I have signed the box saying that I DO want the cover.
However, I felt as though I had to take this cover to get the loan (she asked me how I expected to repay if I went out of work etc)
I was pretty pressured into taking it, and felt it was never explained to me why I needed it, or that I didn't have to take it from them

As I have signed the form saying I did want the payment insurance, will I just have to accept this, or might I have a chance of a claim?

Any advice really will be greatly appreciated!
    Many thanks
  • Give it a try. The FOS requires that any complaint is investigated and sometimes the reason for a complaint actually being upheld is not the one that the buyer actually used to complain. So it's always worth a try.

    Hello
Wrote to Barclays to reclaim PPI on a Barclays Select product.
Eventually got a rejection letter and put this to one side with the intention of Appealing.
For various reasons (work problems Etc) when I picked up the matter, I had missed the six months Appeal deadline. (Not had a great year ...)
I looked into my options but eventuallyl decided I had messed it up and that was the end of it.
TODAY I got a letter from Barclays saying that they were conducting an addition review of my complaint! They asked for evidence of Sick pay scheme at the time that I took out the policy (Why? Why now?)
    Very odd ...
My question ... Does this reset the complain process and allow me a further rejection and therefore an appeal?
Thanks for any help / advice that might be forthcoming.

Get them the info they ask for, see what they respond with and take it from there.

Yes you can make a claim if you have reasons for mis sell.
  • Hi there. I have just been advised by Lloyds that they will be paying me 6500 for mis sold ppi from a series of loans I had with them since 2002.

The letter states that they can offset the payment against any arrears, and I have read somewhere that this also includes offsetting against other products I have with them. I have a current loan also with Lloyds. I it has a balance greater than the amount they have agreed to pay me, however, I have never missed a payment and other than my mortgage, I have no other debt with Lloyds or any others firm.

Can lloyds force me to pay the refund back to my current loan or would it only apply to a loan on which I am in arrears?

    Many thanks
  • Just to update......been turned down for this, despite it being front loaded and explaining everything in detail as advised by taff a few weeks ago.I seem now to be in for the long haul via FOS. So I will post back in 12 -18 months time how I get on,with this one. I have found the land registery to be quite helpful with dates, but have only partial evidence as the loan was DISCHARGED from our mortgage electronically.......nearly 2yrs AFTER the term was up.:(

They won't force you to do that, they'll just give you the reamaining balance, but they could just give you the cheque or credit the redress to your bank account.
