PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Anybody had any success/difficulties with Citibank?
Going to send off the form on behalf of Dad this week regarding PPI.
(Didn't know he had it, until he was admitted to hospital in 2008 - and when he contacted them regarding payments while he was in hospital and couldn't work, as self-employed, they said he had PPI, which was then ineligible for due to being self-employed).
So definitely feel he has a claim there! Downloaded the form off their site and will be printing and filling in with him ASAP.0 -

Hi
Never had any dealings myself with them, but many have.
So I take it your dad tried to make a claim and they refused by confirming he was not eligible? (whilst he was in hospital).
Seems like a good case here then, fingers crossed.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Yeah - same deal with Cap One, but they said on the phone straight away they couldn't pay as he was self-employed, but can't find proof it was ever refunded.
He literally rang Citibank and said he couldn't make payments on his card due to being admitted to hospital (he was old school and paid it in through the bank every month). And the arrangements he made (us going in to pay it) meant he was going to miss the payment date. And they said on the phone he had PPI for these circumstances, but turned out it wouldn't pay out for him. But he didn't even know he had it until then.0 -

TUT TUT TUT.
In my opinion, your dad should succeed in these cases.
Did you try requesting for all the paperwork by requesting for a Subject Access Request (SAR)?The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Not yet, he's pulled out some random paperwork for me from Citi bank which contains an account number, so I assumed I'd just add this onto the form and send it in?0 -
No. They have to show there is no wrong doing in their files. They do not have to prove what you accuse them of as being wrong.
Is there any other way to find the loan number?0 -

A SAR is optional, and there is a full template letter below link if you want to send one to the bank/business data protection unit.
They have up to 40 calendar days to comply, and you enclose £10 cheque or postal order. They should send all they hold on the account. For example, if there were a few accounts taken out with the same business, then one SAR with the one payment fee covers for all under the same account.
If they're unable to track anything down, they will return the payment with a letter to explain.
As said, it's optional, but any paperwork you do have, you can enclose "copies" only with the complaint which may be a help to the case.

Couldn,t agree more Money, FOS should deal with this immediately. Unfortunately you and i both know that wont happen.
I have 2 claims at FOS ,it took them 6 weeks to acknowledge them. Im not knocking them i realise how busy they are (pity many are spurious CMC claims )
Thats why i am still struggling with barclays.0 -

Hi
Bank statements.
If you do online banking and still with the same bank where you repaid the monthly repayments, this may allow you to go back about 7 years maybe longer maybe less.
The account number from what I know is usually shown next to the monthly repayments.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
