due to bad money management several years ago. How would I know if I have this PPI? I didn't take out the card originally and there's no mention of it on the statements?
If there is no mention of payment protection, or credit protection or something similar on your statements, then you aren't paying it.
That's not to say you've never paid it, just that you aren't currently paying it. If you have some statements from previous years, check those, if you find there's no mention on those, it's probable that you've never paid on that particular credit cardNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
If this has been asked before I apologise now.
Can you claim for Mortgage Protection Insurance, most posts only mention loan & credit card PPI?
Cheers0 -

You can complain about MPPI but the success rate is far lower. Its so low that some claims companies wont even bother putting in complaints on MPPI.
A number of the reasons that work with loan and credit card wont work with MPPI. Plus many MPPI cases are put in place by advisers. So, there is a good audit trail and you dont get lucky auto payouts as much. FOS stats show just 0.2% of PPI complaints in their hands are advised cases. FSCS only upheld 5% of complaints against mortgage brokers.
MPPI is generally regarded as the one PPI that is worth having. So, unless you have a solid complaint reason, it's not worth going there.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I did that end of september. Received the standard "sorry you feel you have to complain" letter and nothing since.
I called barclaycard again this morning kept getting passed from dept to dept, every time being left on hold, explaining my situation, going through security checks finally after 90 minutes, yes 90 minutes, i was put back to the first guy i spoke to.
You cant make it up i didnt know whether to laugh or cry.
Seriously does anyone have any idea how to get money out of Barclays. They received my acceptance letter 31st July im still waiting for my money. To date i have
1 Spent hours on the phone.
2 Lodged a complaint about the length of time taken to pay,
3 E-mailed antony jenkins (may or may not be the right e-mail address)
What else can i do?
P.S I have another claim, logged on the banks system end of May, so now in its 6th month, which im told is still being worked on, guess who, yes Barclays.0 -
After reading Amersall's reply to Lmackreath I am confused about my situation.
I was successful in claiming back the PPI from Natwest on 3 loans that were in a chain. The current loan had PPI to the value of £7177.80. The bank cancelled the PPI when our claim was received by them and we were sent a letter stating that due to it being cancelled we had a rebate of just over £800 and that our monthly repayments for the loan were now reduced from £368 to £342 due to the cancellation of the PPI. The length of the loan repayments hasn't changed
We have just received the PPI into our account, along with the 8% interest and are planning on using it to pay off the loan.
My question is: should the monthly payments have been reduced by more than £26 as the loan repayments of £368 we were making included £85.45 for the PPI?
When you put the claim in for mis sell and won, the bank should have reset the loan, taken the whole PPI off the balance, the monthly payment should then reduce by the PPI monthly amount to be paid over the remaining term of the loan, any PPI that you actually paid to date should have been returned to you.
This puts you back in the position you would have been had there been no PPI.
It should not make a difference I would have thought, that they cancelled the PPI and gave you a rebate as you would have got this anyway, either off the loan or to you.
How long have you paid this loan for, what did they actually pay you back and has the loan balance reduced by the PPI total you stated above?.0 -

Thanks again for the speedy reply amersall.
I will try Mr Dickinson and see if i have any joy there.
Im loathe to push this to FOS at the moment as i see their role as settling when 2 parties cannot agree. Barclays and i both agree but i dont seem to be able to speed them up. We all know FOS are beseiged with claims (2 of them mine) I would hope i would i will be quicker hounding Barclays than going down the FOS route but im aware it may be an option in the future.
Once again many thanks for the speedy reply and i,ll keep you posted.0
