I was contacted by one of these claim companies who advised me that even though I didn't take out PPI it could have been added to my monthly payment without me knowing.
This is a lie.
If you have a credit card, any PPI policy would be itemised on every monthly statement.
If you had a loan, then the PPI would be listed separately on the original agreement.

Ignore cold calls from claim companies.

Having spent a week reading this thread, I was finally motivated to go and have a look at one of my many files. I couldn`t believe it. I have found the original details for loans with RBS from 2006 and 2009, they both refer to a specific amount for re-financing earlier loans. I have now downloaded the questionnaire, and will spend the weekend looking through my older files as I clearly remember the interviiew for my first loan in 2002, and being told that I wouldn`t get my money without taking out ppi. As I was employed as a teacher at the time, I think I have a strong case for missold ppi, and have never been out of debt since.
I have to thank you all for your inspiration and advice, without you, I would not have reached this point.
I will keep you updated with my progress :)

I initially assumed that if I did have PPI it would be listed separate on my statements. This company advised me that this was not always the case.

Does anyone know if this is possible. I always choose not to take PPI so wondering if its worth investigating.

Thanks

Hi all,
I have recently submitted a claim for PPI against the MBNA after having discovered that I was paying it. I had not noticed it on the statements before as my wife deals with the payments etc. I had not asked for or had been sold PPI, so I requested my T&C's. When I got them, the tick box agreeing to PPI was not checked (completed in 2005), so I hadn't agreed to it. MBNA have contacted me and it turns out that I have been paying PPI since 2008, when apparently I agreed to PPI over the telephone. I have no recollection of this phone call and MBNA can't give me any details of it, other than alleging that the phone call took place and I agreed to PPI. I have never taken any PPI as I have always been self employed (at the time in question albeit as a director of my own private family ltd company) and was advised years ago by a Solicitor friend never to take it out as it was a big con.

MBNA have not made a decision yet, could it be possible that they will decline the claim on the basis that I agreed to take out PPI in the unsubstantiated phone call, despite them having provided me with the most recent T&C's which clearly indicate that I did not agree to PPI?

Is there anything I need to be doing before they make their decision at the end of the month.

Many Thanks for any input.

Hi, just wait and see what the decision is, good luck.

Hello,
I've had a bit of a runaround with Barclays over my ppi complaint on a chain of loans (all with with front loaded ppi) from early 1990s through to 1996. My complaint was rejected initially in August (after 1 day) then re-opened immediately after a phone call from me (reason - policy cannot be traced). Complaint was rejected again for the same reason a couple of weeks later, yet re-opened, again, when I rang to ask why - I had already sent in copies of loan agreement/policy docs /bank statements with the original complaint. Finally, was told yesterday as my case was a "re-open" there was no timescale for a resolution and i may have to wait 6-12 months as there were "thousands" of complaints in this re-open queue. Is my next course of action FOS (which wont be any quicker), just sit and wait for Barclays, or try and attempt to escalate the complaint - do emails to the CEO actually achieve anything ? My main issue is the fact the complaint was closed in error, twice, as I supplied copy docs from the very start.

any advice welcome...

Hi Paddy fos it i,ve had barclays reject a complaint then uphold it as a "gesture of goodwill" then would you believe reject it again, shysters and frauds don't waste any more time with them
• I've just had a 10 year review of my Whole of Life Assurance with Critical illness cover from Scottish Provident. In discussing the new monthly premium they talk about an addition for premium protection. I assume that this is already included in my current cover, but I was not aware of this and assumed that the premium I have been paying was for the cover that I was quoted and not for anything else. I would not have opted for PPI and would instead of increased the value of my cover. Should I be making a claim?

PPI Party Pooper
Hi
I have successfully claimed PPI back on a loan from Santander, but not successfully claimed back PPI on credit cards from Capital One and HFC.

So I have sent the Credit card claims to the Financial Ombudsman, and when i phone them today to ask if I would get an acknowledgement, they told me that they had all the information they needed and they were now waiting for a decision in both cases. Does anyone know how long this could take, please?

Also, I have sent a SAR to Santander for all loan records post 1997 but they have only sent me those since 2006, saying they might have destroyed earlier records. Does that 6 year data rule apply to SARs?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If the bank have destroyed the information, it isn't retrievable by any means.

Hi Nee i can't see a business loan being any different (much) from a personal loan, i would say in the 90's it would have been front loaded, I had LTSB pay out two from 95 as well so i would'nt say it was too long ago but you might need documentation, good luck.:)
