PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

  • Hi,

With regards to the second loan I was thinking that it was to do with the fact that it consolidated the first and therefore had an element of PPI with it being in a chain, the same applying to the third.

The odd thing is that I actually contacted a separate department of NatWest whilst my claim was being investigated to see what their records said regarding all the loans I'd ever had with them (no SAR report requierd as I've banked with them since 1985). Their response listed all 3 loans but said that none had PPI, however they couldn't supply the original loan amount for the first loan and I know that had PPI so I'm guessing that they simply don't have any information for that loan with it being taken out in 1999.

All in all I think it's obvious that accepting their offer would be the wise thing to do.

All of which adds credence to my "balance of probabilities" suggestion as to why you have a "goodwill" offer.

    I agree you should accept.;)
  • Hi "Moneyineptitude,"

Again, many many thanks for all your help, it is very much appreciated.

So here we are guys restarting on this thread this post will just give you a post or two to latch on to.

I have had PPI stopped on my RBS Gold Credit Card since 1999, I actualy did not know I was paing it and what it was for until I heard about the Martin Lewis missold PPI issues. I have sent 2 template letters off to the RBS Credit Card Services with cheques as stated and after waiting 6 weeks have just had a reply of a copy of my original agreement with the last six months copy statements. I remember that my wife and myself met with a bank official when I first opened up the credit card, we were given a form to fill in which my wife filled in our address, bank account details etc, , I signed it and gave it back to the 3rd party, the form has been ticked in the box where it asks if you want PPI, we are certain that we would not have taken this out, there is no mention of how much the ppi would cost or even what you would get back if it was needed, we believe the tick was put in the box after we had handed the form back. Could you tell me what my next action should be?
    Many thanks
  • Hi,

I had a Natwest Credit Card in 1996 which at the time automatically came with PPI. It charged a set amount of £12 a month I think as I have no records of what payments I made etc.

I remember realising at the time and complaining. They removed the monthly charge but I did not get any money back at the time.

I think I only paid this for a few months so not much money lost.

They have offered me £1316.18 as a gesture of goodwill.

Should I accept this or try for more??

It seems a good result to me,

    Thanks

    Hi
I am currently on a DMP. My claim for Santander has been upheld and I have been refunded £7087.70. Reading all the forums I am knew that this would go towards paying off of my outstanding arrears which is absolutely fine, however after reading some of the forum comments I was under the impression that the 8% interest would not be put against the arrears. Santander have informed me that everything has been put into paying back my arrears including the interest is this right? If not is there anyway I can get this 8% back. I hope this makes sense and many thanks for your help. I claimed my PPI on my own by filling out the questionnaire from here.

Hello, Egg received my PPI 1953.76 minus the 8% refund I got along with a bill for £586.12 to pay the PPI company

Hello there ..... I'd appreciate some guidance :)
In March 2005 I took out a £40,000 mortgage for a 10 year term, & with it was sold Mortgage Payment Insurance of £14.19 monthly, Mortgage Payment Protection of £38.32 monthly, & Mortgage Term Assurance with Critical Illness cover of £17.09 monthly.
The first two were sold as a condition of the mortgage, but I think they were mis-sold & I had no need for so much financial cover. I have been a Civil Servant since 1991, & in the event of illness would receive 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay, & then go on to pension rate of pay.
In February 2008, having been able to repay more than the required monthly payment on several occasions, I realised I was "over protected" & cancelled the MPI & MPP, & had the Term Assurance reviewed & reduced to £9.42 per month.
Despite previous success reclaiming PPI in respect of a loan, it is only now that I've realised I could possibly make a claim regarding the mortgage also .... And another thing, are MPI & MPP not the same? I definite paid monthly premiums in respect of both for almost three years.
Which do I try to reclaim?
I would appreciate any advice - amazingly I believe I have all my paperwork.
    Thank you in advance:)

  • new to this so here goes. I have just received a letter back from citi financial offering me £ 6756.00 refund on miss sold ppi. the thing is this loan ends in six months and im month in arrears. In the letter they say that they will pay my arrears and balance and this is full and final payment and case will be closed. The wording is confussing to me and if i have understood it then my arrears and balance is not as large a figure as they are refunding so my question is will i get the difference as there doesnt seem to be a mention of that. advice please as im lost.
