PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hello,
I phoned Natwest and Barclaycard asking if i had a ppi with them (both accounts now closed). As they were 5-6 years ago they said i had to put it in writing. I sent off the T&C form from this site.
However, both were returned saying that as i no longer had an active account i was not entitled to this information!!
Has anyone else experienced this? where do i go from here?
On a positive note i wrote for a mis sold TMPP with Halifax and recieved £2000 within 6 weeks of writing to them :beer:0 -
Hello,
I have been rejected by my bank HSBC on a PPI Claim on a personal loan I took out in 1999.
The Bank has admitted that I had a ‘Personal Loan Protection Plan’ on the loan after a quick phone call. I then received an ombudsman form from them to fill out which I did (using moneysaving web site for guidance) but have subsequently rejected my claim on the grounds that the PPI plan was ‘Optional’ and that I had a ‘30 period in which to cancel’ which I obviously never did! Due to the fact I didn’t know I had PPI on the loan? They just didn’t tell me!
I originally called my bank and asked about a possible loan (to buy a car) I was advised to go into my local branch to discuss. The Bank’s advisor sat me down and said I was eligible for the loan and proceed tell me what my monthly repayments where going to be and asked did I want to proceed. I agreed signed the forms, which she printed off in front of me, hand shake, Done, Happy Days….No mention of PPI or any optional 30 day right to cancel?
I never received one printed/posted statement from HSBC showing any breakdown of the loan or its contents i.e. showing PPI? All I saw was the ex-amount of pounds for a loan repayment as a one off line out going every month for four years.
The question I have is this:
Should I reply to HSBC? As they have stated in there letter “If I have any further information you feel is relevant, please forward for their consideration” or should I just go straight on to the Ombudsman?

I used the following in a letter to a provider that I had a refund from:
>>
I would also like a copy of the original credit card application to check what I agreed to at the time.
• I do not believe that an adequate demands and needs assessment was conducted.
• I do not recall my employment status being discussed or my eligibility to claim on the policy sold to me being discussed.
• I do not recall the policy exclusions being explained fully to me.
• I was not consulted to determine whether I had alternative insurance in place to cover me in the event of needing to claim due to being unable to work.
• No checks on pre-existing medical conditions were made and at the time of the agreement.
• I do not recall the policy exclusions and limitations being explained.
Insurers are under an obligation to ensure that the policy they are selling is appropriate to the customer and it would appear that this requirement was not fulfilled.
As a result I am requesting a full refund of all my insurance payments, plus interest.
If I do not receive a satisfactory response from you within 30 days from the date of this letter I will pursue this claim through the Financial Ombudsman.

Obviously include your own personal information as a preface to this text.
Thanks DominicM I'll give them another go.0 -

If you paid his loan and PPI in one monthly payment, get back in touch with them and let them know that this was Single Premium PPI, ask them to reconsider your claim on this basis.
This PPI was in fact a loan on the loan paid back to term end with interest and the full cost and unfair rebates of this SP PPI were not explained to you fully at the point of sale to make an informed decision, had you known what this PPI would cost then you would not have taken it.0 -

Hi all, I am in the process of trying to reclaim PPI from Natwest credit card. I have followed all advice on this site completed the complaint form and sent it off. RBS replied stating they could not progress my complaint as I had not specified my complaint. I then sent them an additional letter detailing my reasons which were I already had adequate cover from my employer. I also pointed out that I had spoken to them several times requesting PPI was closed over a number of years still they had not done this. I got another letter today stating the same I had not specified my complaint so they couldn't progress. I have phoned them and gave exactly the same information again, was told it would be passed on, is this usual ?0

I can't see why they keep asking for a reason when you have given them the reasons for mis sell, I would contact FOS and tell them what they keep doing, if you explained the reasons in full then I don't see what the problem is.0 -

What year was this taken out and did you get the car from a dealer and they arranged the finance?.0 -
Hello. I am sorry if this question has been asked. With so many posts and so many threads on the subject I hope someone will be patient enough to advise me.
My partner has found paperwork relating to a mortgage and loan she had (Abbey National and FirstPlus). The problem is the Abbey National paperwork only confirms she agreed to take out two PPI policies on the mortgage, but no subsequent paperwork showing reference numbers are in the file.
There is nothing on FirstPlus apart from a spreadsheet from an IFA who listed it and the premium and benefits payable, but she can't exactly pinpoint when it was or when it finished.
The reason she would say they were mis-sold is because her parents are quite financially comfortable and would have bailed them out if necessary.
She would have the address she was at for part of the time, but this is 12 years ago and she has since divorced and shredded or burnt loads of old paperwork from her old house (as she had kept boxes and boxes full and it was all old stuff that she thought was now irrelevent)
So all very vague. We are wondering if it is even worth bothering to claim with such limited information? If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0 -

You need to find valid and verifiable mis-selling reasons for complaint.0
