It is unlikely they will have the statements you need due to the year, try with the statements you have and see what they come back with.
They will maybe need the last statements as this shows you paid the insurance to term.

Thanks for the advice - had a written response today from HFC Bank requesting bank statements showing all payments made to the account.
is it the end of the road without these ?

I would think it is if you have no more statements, don't think aSar request would help either.

Do you have statements that include the end of the loan? if you do, send copies of those in and tell them that this loan PPI was paid to term end and ask them to consider the claim.

Have you asked Barclays if they can provide you with any statements, explain its for a ppi claim but not with them, even offer to pay for them, you never know, I take it you still bank with Barclays
  • Hopefully someone can advise both who I should complain too and if it is worth continuing with a claim.
I took out a new mortage in 2005 with Nationwide via John charcol mortage advisers/brokers, with the mortage came 12 months free MPPI for me and my wife, this policy was for accident, sickness and unemployment cover for 24 months. At the end of the 12 months we renewed the policy with nationwide but removed my partner from the cover to reduce the costs to a more affordable level, this continued for another 4yrs. I was not made aware apart from now reading the policy booklet that for exsisting conditions i would not be covered, I have had asthma since a child and have had and still do take daily medication.
Also we had available to us 2 months sick pay from our employer and I had been with my employer for nearly twelve years (and still am) when this insurance was taken out and were not sure we really needed it, but felt at the time right to take it as it was offered free to start with and made to feel it was a good idea.
Did I have recourse to claim, as Nationwide have firstly stated that John charcol had arranged the mortage etc and that they cannot be held responsible for any information provided by the intermediary, secondly that by taking my partner off the cover that I had for the 12 months free, this time allowed me to consider if it was right for us and that having changed it to a single cover only means that I took a consciuos decision to take the cover.
They also say that they confirm that only qualifying pre-exsisting medical conditions that return or persist in the first 12 months of cover will not be covered and after the first 12 months I would have been covered by the policy? Surely the fact that I take medication daily to control the Asthma means that it is persisting in the first twelve months? Any helped would be appriciated.
  • I am trying to figure out how much my PPI claim against Barclaycard Goldfish may add up to.

Between July 1999 and September 2011 I incurred a total of £324.09 in PPI premiums, most months I cleared the balance of my credit card in full.

What interest rate is charged on this amount, is it the prevailing rate charged by Barclaycard on outstanding balances?

There is also this 8% interest compensation I have heard about, how does that enter in to the equation?

I have written twice to Barclaycard and got no reply despite recorded delivery letters being delivered. I approached the FOS who in the first instance took 8 weeks to reply telling me I had missed out entering the date next to my signature! I corrected that omission and a further 8 weeks later got a letter telling me they are dealing with my claim and that it will be @ least 6 months before I hear any more from them.

I guess the longer this goes on the more it will cost Barclaycard in terms of interest.

    Looking forward to any replies.

I will have one last search of the loft otherwise send a response asking them to reconsider (I cant see why they will question payments 1 to 40 if i can demonstrate 41- term end, but they are). Thanks again for the advice

This is a good idea, but it will cost a fortune due to the time that has elapsed, the best bet is for Paddy to try and get the statement that shows the loan money being credited to the account and the last years statements to show the loan repaid, this should be evidence enough for HFC, if not then I would take it to FOS.

Thanks for the advice but tried my barclays branch this week who can only go back to 1998. Bit of a shame as I paid £42 per month for 5 years, 15 years ago but am just a little short of proof.
  • Sorry if this is already mentioned on this thread (I have tried searching for the answer to my question).

How am I fixed for making a claim with Standard Life if I was sold the PPI with an endowment via a personal financial advisor?

This was way back in 1999 when I bought my first home. I no longer have any documentation from the advisor (got rid of him when I could no longer trust him) nor from Standard Life (lost, possibly recycled when we last move home).

I do remember having to fill in lots of forms for the advisor saying that I understood the various things he sold to me but to be honest I was very young, naive and inexperienced and both my parents had just died so I had no one older and wiser to warn me off.

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.
