After sending two SARs to HSBC (one for a loan and one for a cc), their debt recovery department (Metropolitan) wrote to me saying that they "were not in a position to provide the requested information" and they "hope this clarifies matters." After defaulting on my debts with HSBC, they passed the debt to Metro and I am now paying Metro through the use of a debt management plan.

I thought it was a legal obligation on them to provide me with the data I had asked for? I included a cheque, which notably wasn't returned!
Although you should certainly complain to the Bank about their failure to supply the requested information, do be aware that any PPI redress the Bank might award with respect to a defaulted loan would be retained and paid towards the remaining balance.

Hi, has anyone made a claim about missold ppi for right to buy mortgage from Regency?
My parents are trying to claim from them but have contacted a number of companies who now deal with the ppi and mortgages for regency but they have so far all responded saying they dont deal with it. I know regency are now dissolved so there is no direct contact for them, has anyone got any ideas how to progress this?

Out of curiosity - would it be misselling in terms of PPI on a credit card if the intention (and in fact practice) was always to pay off the balance in full?

I suspect not and by definition the PPI amounts would be small, but just curious whether this has been used.

  • Hello all.
I am a little unsure as how to go forward with my particular case.
I took out my first mortgage in 1998 with the Halifax. I was told by the sales person that PPI was essential. I was only 19 years old at the time (& very green!!) so took it out alongside my mortgage. (I have the paperwork). I have several statements that show the PPI being paid, via Direct Debit. Since then it appears that I have been paying out PPI, although it appears that I have adjusted my level of cover (from critical illness, redundancy & life cover) to life cover only.
The issue I have is lack of paperwork from aprox 2002, however I have found a 2009 statement showing that I was still paying PPI, so I do have massive gaps in my audit trail.
I no longer have PPI with the Halifax (I now have the cover I want for my wife & I elsewhere).
The bottom line is ....... Which way should I go with this? I am not keen on the idea of using an expensive 3rd party to persue my case, (do they have the facility to dig into & find the necessary documentation?) if this is the case then I would consider it! Or do I have enough evidence to take it on myself using the template letter on this website? I am really keen to start the ball rolling in the right direction but don't want to burn my bridges due to my lack of information. If anybody has any suggestions please fire away!!
  • 1st time on here! received a cold call stating, that a loan we have taken out with Blemeim finance and stated no to PPI, may have hidden PPI included in with the interest, is that possible? is so how can i find out if this has happened?

amount of interest charged is £3853.16 at 14.40% per annum on a £6000 pound loan over 84 months

    thanks!

I just phoned up Santander with regards to a credit card I had from 2006 till 2008. The account has been closed for since 2008 and I don't have any documentation but managed to get the last 4 digits in the account number from my credit report.

I said I was wanting to raise a claim as I had applied online for this and that I had to opt out of the PPI instead of opting in, as the online application form had pre ticked boxes.

The guy at first said that was not reason enough but I stood my ground and even lied by saying my friend was a financial advisor and he advised me and others who had been successful that this was enough reason for putting in a claim. He seemed to back down after this and said he had raised it and I would hear something back in writing within 3-6 weeks.

What happens if they say my claim is not valid enough? Would I then take it to Ombudsman? I have another few cards I am about to try for too over the phone, seems it is going to be a long afternoon listening to waiting music. :rotfl:
  • MSE says get your credit report to see who you have had accounts with etc. I have just done this to the tune of £14.99 per month only to find that the information is vague at best! Can anybody help me with a) finding account numbers for old accounts, b) finding out who Style Financial Services are or were and c) why are Experian forcing me to purchase Identity Insurance? Any help will be gratefully received.

I would post a link to a site I discovered over the weekend that does it for free but since I am a new member it wont allow it.

Just Google a company called Noddle and sign up with them, they give a free, lifetime credit report and I managed to obtain the last 4 digits of old account numbers dating back to 6 years. This should be enough for putting in claims.
