Absolutely
Firstplus have bent over backwards to help me since i complained to the CEO, but they insist on fobbing me off to the Broker, although to me it was the Firstplus advisor that sold me the loan and advised me to take out the PPI, so this is my complaint, as ive said i AM willing to take this to court,in June2003 i took out the loan it was £25000 with 6122.50 ppi added to the loan, i paid the loan off in full in Oct 2004, monthly payments were 325 but went up to 347 due to increase interest rate. Do i have a case, many on here have said you have to go the broker route then insurer, but im blaming Firstplus. Any help appreciated.0 -

Threatening court action is unlikely to progress your complaint at this stage. It's only when a complaint has been upheld and the Lender is tardy with the redress that that avenue can be a useful bargaining tool.0 -
Hi everyone just wanted to say that I have had some successes with the PPI claims, initially I used Brunel Franklin who of course took their piece of the monies returned, so then I thought I would do it myself and it is so easy, I got a template letter of here sent them off and hey presto all companies came back to me some good and some saying that there was no PPI to claim, so I said I wasnt happy and complained to the financial ombudsman and hey presto the companies then found the PPI insurance I had and started to make offers, best advice I can give keep a record of your claims if they say theyt will get back to you within a couple of weeks and dont chase them.
I only have one who are causing me problems, anyone had any dealing with Yorkshire Bank=Clydesdale Bank, they have agreed they owe me money, and offered £2206 this was 6 weeks ago, I signed the form and they promised to pay the money direct into my bank in two weeks, I am still waiting!!!!!!!!! I have contacted them numerous times, they keep saying well we sent it but the banks had a problem and the payment has been returned, so I checked with the them my bank details and they were correct, then I phoned again and they said no sorry we are sending a cheque, then no cheque came and I rang again, this time they said right money has been sent and will be in your account within five days this week before last, Still waiting!!!!!!! no money, could I threaten them with financial ombudsman on this one ? sick of ringing them now.
Good luck everyone else with claims. worth trying.

I've got an MBNA credit care, I paid PPI until Nov 2005, but cannot remember when the card was taken out, I have a statement from 2001 showing PPI payment, can I claim, and do I have a chance of getting any money back?0

You'll be fine you have a statement going back to 2001 showing the ppi so they cannot refuse to repay back to then if your complaint is upheld, the only other thing they might try is to just go back to 2005 and offer one payment as you have one statement so they might just offer you redress for what you have.
Lets hope not, i wish you luck.0 -

Hi julie congratulations on your success, the lenders don't like the fos do they, i'd contact the ombudsman about yorkshire bank and also threaten to contact the fsa i threatened LTSB with court action when they had there "problem" september time and surprise surprise they then came up with the money.0 -
Hi there
If you don't mind me asking, what were your reasons for being mis sold.
If your not satisfied and feel they have overlooked your complaint, sometimes they will still reconsider a final decision, and you can ask if they will revisit with the further information you provided.
If you complain to the FOS, they will look into both sides, and as for already being protected when you taken these out, I assume you made them aware of that on the complaint?
I would tell them you feel you have genuine reasons to reclaim and in your right to do so, because of the reasons you previously provided them which you feel they have overlooked and not taken into any consideration, and (give any info you may have missed), ask if they can contact/write to you by 14 days as from when they receive your letter, and if you hear nothing or if nothing's changed you will be considering taking it further.
Good luck.
Hi Di,
thanks for your advice - my reasons were that I was unaware that PPI was optional, I was never given any indication that the payment I was quoted wasn't compulsory and that I didn't need it as both my husband and I had been in the same employment for many years and had a year's sick pay. I also pointed out that we had had three loans with them over the years and took PPI out on the first two as we were naive but by the time we had the third we were more switched on and refused it. The person at the bank who signed us up for the last loan tried to persuade us to take out PPI as given our borrowing history (consolidating loan and overdraft...) we were likely to take out another loan in a few years and would have a nice PPI rebate to look forward to!
My bank are really pushy when it comes to selling. I went in with a friend one lunch hour to withdraw money, the cashier's face changed when she looked at the screen, called someone over who asked me if I had time to have a chat with them which I agreed to as I was worried there was a problem with my account. My friend asked if I would be long and they told her I would be and could meet her later then they took me in a room and asked if I was interested in their buildings and contents insurance!! I was so relieved that I hadn't done anything wrong that I took it out with them!
I was hoping the letter would arrive today but it didn't - as soon as I receive it I'll tell you what they said.
Can't see how they turned me down when a colleague has just had a payout from same bank for 3 loans and a credit card and gave exactly the same reasons as me!
Oh well, we'll see when the letter arrivesSuccess so far:
Bank charges refund plus interest: over £6000 :j
Mortgage PPI refund plus interest: over £9000 :j

I closed account of Santander credit card in 2010 and i destroyed all account details and card and i want to claim PPI and i called them on phone to lodge complain with my details they hold but they said we dont have any account details as you canceled in 2010 and you need to write to us.
After writing letter and I got reply from them in writing that "unfortunately we were unable to locate any accounts with the information that you have provided."
Its strange how come they have not got my account details when i provided all my personal details and address.
By law they should keep account details of minimum 6 years of closing account.0 -
You could go into a branch and ask, they may find you.
Failing that you will have to do a Sar, this will cost you £10, give them 40 days to respond, ask for all info they hold on you and not just the agreement.
