Regardless, there is no one to "complain" to.0 -
New to this so please be gentle! For PPI purposes I want to check my credit report from before marriage (so different name and different address). I've checked my current one which is fine and has the information I need but I need to check previous financial info from before I married (1997). How do I do this please?0

Information from 22 years ago is only available if the lender(s) concerned still have records or from your own archive of documentation.
So you can't "check" anything I'm afraid.0 -
4. I spoke to them and they were told when they got the mortgage that they needed to purchase insurance otherwise they could not take a mortgage!
Which is correct. lenders required life assurance on mortgages until the late 90s (some into the early 2000s)I believe the insurance company was Scottish Amicable? IT was a life policy.
Which makes sense seeing as Scottish Amicable were a life assurance company. In this case who should I contact? I can't contact as Martin suggests - the broker as they don't seem to be around anymore?
None of them.
1 - its not PPI
2 - what you describe is a not missale
3 - life assurance wasnt regulated until Jan 2005.
I think you have got the completely wrong idea about their situation and the requirements but it doenst really matter. There is nothing you can do here.0 -
Thanks everyone. Yes after reading more about it you are obviously correct.
No PPI involved.
Though I might check to see if there was any PPI on the mortgage itself.
But I assume if the broker is no longer in business there is no one to claim against??0 -
It's the same situation.
You have no one to complain to and it's pre pre-regulation.0 -
I have had several credit cards and a mortgage dating from mid 1980's.
For PPI, do I need to make separate 'claims' or can everything be bundled into one?
Cards and mortgage were with different companiesNil Satis Nisi Optimum

For any PPI you may have had, it's not sufficient for you to simply have held a policy. If you want a refund, you need to show that it was somehow mis-sold to you.
Fairly obviously, every policy will require a separate complaint (not "claim") addressed to the financial institution which sold it to you.
Did you actually have PPI?0 -
Did you actually have PPI? …….. I actually have no idea !Nil Satis Nisi Optimum
