I'm guessing there isn't a service where you can just give someone your NI number and they can look at any loans etc over time?
Lenders do not ask your NI number
Plus, that would be one hell of a data protection breach.

    Hi,

    I had PPI with Barclays.
Is it better to use Moneysaveingexpert tool to make a claim or go directly to Barclays PPI claim page (it looks more complicated)?

    Thanks!

Go direct to Barclays. The MSE tool (Resolver) works for many but it also has a few issues. Barclays ask all the info whereas if you use Resolver, they will often come back and ask you for more.

With the deadline so close, go direct.

Ask Barclays for a copy of the policy if you need to check the level of cover.
  • Hi there,

I am relatively new to this so I apologise in advance as I have not read through all the previous posts/threads however around 10 years I received a PPI refund from Barclays and must admit I thought that was it and then in early July with all the adverts around the date looming I did a check to see if I had anything else, anyway I'll try to keep it short but MBNA confirmed I did have PPI on a Credit Card I had back in May 2001 but my claim has been rejected because

    a) it was not referred to MBNA within the time limits as it was over six years ago
    and
    b) That they sent me 2 years worth of monthly statements at that time which would have detailed the PPI

To be honest if they did, I never examined them as I was in financial difficulty at that time and simply looked at the required payment amount.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    TIA

Yes. MBNA are known for sending CCLs and using the 3 year timebar rule on those (as they are allowed to do).

As long as the address they used was correct then its game over.
  • Dear all

I am attempting to do a PPI reclaim on my parents old mortgage which they took out in 1987. They finished paying it in 2014. I spoke to them and they were told when they got the mortgage that they needed to purchase insurance otherwise they could not take a mortgage!

After going through the documentation they have, their mortgage was via Chase JP Morgan -which I believe now is taken over by First National Mortgage Company and now if I believe Resolve is owned by Santander?

However the issue I have is that it appears to have been done through a broker (Storic Insurance Services) which I can no longer find.

I believe the insurance company was Scottish Amicable? IT was a life policy.

In this case who should I contact? I can't contact as Martin suggests - the broker as they don't seem to be around anymore?

Do I go direct to Santander? Or to Scottish Amicable?

Should I try through Resolve or go direct?

    Thanks

    None of those.

Your complaint is to the broker. If they no longer exist, you have no one to complain to.

However, sine it was life insurance, it wasn't PPI, so you can safely forget about it.

Oh - it's also pre regulation.
