Yes ignore it. Be patient with it when you run it, it might take a few seconds but you should see a command window open that says "preparing rkill" then "terminating known malware processes"

notepad should hopefully open - post rkill.log

Make sure you update malwarebytes before running it - it's woefully out of date.

Don't reboot though - if you do you'll need to run rkill (winlogon.exe) again.

Downloaded malwarebytes to cd and ran after installing, doing quick one first then full.
Where did you download it from??
    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.25
    Database version: 1062

The one I used was on the user side and had been allowed to get out of date.

    Any success with rkill?
  • Thanks.
Rebooted before you told me not to, now do not have any programs etc in the start box. Now fed up as got to take MIL shopping, be back in an hour and half. Not sure which is worse, virus or MIL?
Can't run rkill again as can't find it.

If you downloaded it with firefox the default download location is in a folder called "downloads" in MyDocuments - if you cant find it just redownload it again.

I take it it rkill was successfull?

If you can, post rkill.log it'll be at the root of the drive, usually C:\

What rkill will do is kill running malware processes to allow you to run other programs such as Malwarebytes (mbam) in normal mode - normal mode is where mbam is at it's best.

If you reboot, those malware processes will start again.
