OH clicked on a picture in facebook and downloaded a major virus. Unfortunately she let the program scan her laptop for errors, which it carefully downloaded. Now she cannot get onto anything, no task manager, no programs, it will not recognise a card which I have downloaded malwarebytes onto. It will not connect to the internet nor can I see any files which are on the hard disk. Tried using safe mode but was not able to see any files or external cards. Help, how can I clear it when I cannot access the programs. Hesitant to use puppy linux as the last time I tried it screwed up the mbr of our Dell inspirons.

Can you get into safe mode with networking, if so can you get on the internet or are you being blocked?
What OS and AV are you using?0 -
Thanks. Am in safe mode with networking. Blocked wireless so went route 1, on win XP, Avira. Am running bitdefender online scan now.Bit defender says it has
Trojan Generic.547141 little !!!!!!. Downloaded bd to remove
Downloaded Bitdefender but cannot use it as trojan is hiding it still.
Running Trend housecall as it removes online so is not hiden.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Running trend as admin removed some files but not the problem one as it seems to be in the user system. As the user system shows no files nor any internet connection I can't run it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Will the rescue disc run now?
If not, and you have a spare CDR then this is another rescue disc

or this one......

with this you can download definition updates before you scan, too. And it works......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
