BTW that's a nice little car Joe0

If the bodywork is ok then I'd say it would be worth fixing, or selling to someone to be fixed. It it's got rust then it might as well be scrapped as most Mk3 have rusted away, including my old one.0

DO NOT use jump leads if the battery is dead (10v or less), it'll draw so much unregulated current through the leads that they'll melt and weld themselves to both cars.
Absolute nonsense, unless you're using speaker wire for jump leads. What goes around - comes around0 -
Northern Star,
Please tell us where you are?? As you can see, there are plenty of peeps on here who would love to come round and see if we could get this started just 'because'
I'm sure you will find a willing helper on here.
All us sad petrol heads - but what did you expect posting on teh motoring board0 -

Ok, how much current can a car battery + starter motor draw?
The starter alone could be anything upto 200Amps (maybe more), but let's say 90Amp.
The discharged battery can draw as much current as you can supply.
So with the 2 factors we are probably looking at a minimum 150Amp.
Let me quickly punch that in.......
You'd need a cable of no more than 2m length, with a cross sectional area of 25mm². Anything less would get very warm indeed......
Apart from huge, do you have any idea how big that is?
Pull the front panel off your 9kw electric shower, look at the supply cable on that and double it's thickness.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

NOT ONE PERSON HAS MENTIONED THE FUEL.
At 7 years old, the fuel will have well and truly gone off. If you're unlucky it could have started to turn to jelly as it did on a Ford Anglia I found which had been stood several years.
Drain the tank, put a couple of gallons of fresh in and cross your fingers before you fire it up.0 -
OP, 1st thing to check is coolant level as if its had no anti freeze in it, chances are engine will be shot.ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0

Aso, squirt some wd40 down the spark plug holes and leave it overnight before starting as all the oil will probably have drained down and you don't want the pistons/bores getting damaged.0
