I said that I'd come back to update you on how it's going. It's actually really cool. It is making some mistakes but not too many and it's easy to correct them. Overall I'm really happy with that. It's making in my life so much easier

Please ignore me. I am an idiot. I thought the serial number was on the bottom of the box but it's actually on the CD sleeve.

    /facepalm.

I thought it was only suppose to be fellas that never read the instructions.

Lady Morticia how are you getting on with Dragon? I was thinking of getting a copy of Dragon for my aching arms. Presumably it works with word starter?

Hello. :) I'm getting on really well with it. :) Even though I only bought the Standard edition, I actually got a headset in the box.

I did buy a new headset though which was more comfortable, but Dragon is having trouble actually adjusting the volume/microphone level with it and it won't pick up my voice properly with it so I've had to resort to using the headset which came with the software.

It works with any program where you can type so Word, MSN, Forums etc.

    :)

Glad it's working out for you. :D

I've been making more use of it too since getting involved with this thread and it is rather good.

    I installed Dragon today.

After some difficulties I have got it working, however I am sure it is slowing down the entire computer (Toshiba Satellite C660 windows 7). Also the text seems to be very slow to emerge after speaking, overall perhaps it is slower than it takes me to type and I am not fast.

It is an absolute memory/processor hog and needs a very powerful PC. I woudln't even try to run it at the same time as Word / Openoffice on my PC, but dictate into Dragonpad and then cut-and-paste.

There is a setting in options for choosing between speed and accuracy. It waits for you to dictate a whole sentence or more rather than relying on understanding word by word.

I'm not convinced it's actually much better than being a half-competent typist, but if someone has dexterity problems then it could be very helpful.

It's a very powerful program. I'm not having any problems with it slowing down my laptop, personally but I have a 2.4ghz processor and 4GB ram.:o
