Car Park Scam: Car Washing.

  • Yes the two bucket method is one of the best ways (with grit holder) but even a pre wash with hose and one bucket with sponge or mitt and hose down should suffice.
  • Sorry guys but this is my first post and I can't find a"new post" button anywhere on this site. Site managers please note!!!

My gripe is the BP car wash offer. I've printed the voucher made 6 - yes 6- visits to the 2 nearest BP car washes (over 6 miles away) and still haven't got my car clean! 3 of these visits would have entailed a 40 minute wait (on a Tuesday mid morning, so not exaclt peak time!). On 2 occasions the car washes were broken and on the final one the car was was working, but they had run out of cleaning chemicals due to "demand from the vouchers"!

This just reminds me why I stopped using them in the first place (they were always breaking down) and why I won't be using them in the future (couldn't organise a booze-up in a brewery!). So well done BP, somehow you've managed to further increase my view that you are not worth spending money with. Martin, if you're going to run these offres, please make sure that your sponsors can actually deliver! Otherwise I won't be keen to try any more of your deals....
  • Most of those BP offers seem to be for people down South watford gap. I dont even have a BP garage near use at all now, most are supermarket stations

Also worth noting that Martin does explicitly state that their deals and recommendations are based purely on the financial aspects, not customer service as the latter is subjective. Even the best companies out there you could find someone who has been mistreated and would warn everybody to stay away.

As for the BP car wash, doesn't the 50p offer also apply to the jet wash? Use that and then you only have yourself to blame if the car still isn't clean.

Totally agree - £2 for a shampoo/jetwash around my way if you don't own a hose, and then go for the two bucket approach when you are home, because a jetwash always leaves "tide marks", when the water dries. Once a month I always use T Cut "Colour cut" to fill any small blemishes, then finish off with a decent polish - Autoglym or Meguiers.

    Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I'm really not sure what to do.

At about 12.30 today I parked in a car park where there is a hand car washing company operating. My car was filthy so I decided to have it washed. The car 2 cars to the left had been washed and they'd done a good job. So the man came over, I paid £5.75, he wrote down the car details, asked when we'd be back and said he'd have it done.

I'd said we'd be back between 3 and 3.30, so when we arrived back at 3.45, expected it to be done. Except it wasn't. :(
There was a phone number on all the signs around their shed in the middle of the car park, which I have phoned lots of times, but it just goes to answerphone. I don't know what to do. I have emailed the council parking office and explained what happened.

I'm absolutely fuming that I've fallen for a stupid scam.

Any ideas on what I can do?

If it was a scam as opposed to an honest mistake, be thankful all they took was £5.75 and not the whole car! The excess even if insured would have been a lot more!
