I paid before because I have done it in the past and so has my Mum (admittedly at different car parks, but still!)

I probably won't get my money back, but I don't want him to keep getting away with it!

  • Subscribe their mobile number to one of those premium rate services. Better still plaster it all over the internet so they get bombarded with PPI recovery texts, accident texts etc.
  • Was there anyhting about the man that indicated that he worked for the company? Wondering if they had packed up for the day and he was just a grifter who saw an opportunity.
    Any CCTV?

The car 2 cars to the left had been washed and they'd done a good job.......................
I'd said we'd be back between 3 and 3.30, so when we arrived back at 3.45, expected it to be done. Except it wasn't

So they did a good job on 2 cars therefore not scammers.

They had a tea break and got their timing wrong.

If it's anything like the one's around here, they probably laughed and muttered "stupid kuffar" before packing their stuff into their uninsured cars and p1ssing off for the evening.

    Not to generalise or owt....

What can you do about it?

Well you could try going back and complaining, but would you really trust someone with your car AFTER you've done that? I'd expect the dirtiest grit covered rags to be used.... Maybe look at it as losing £5 to save £££'s on repairs to remove swirl marks.

Plus if you convince even one person not to go there, they'll have lost far more than they made from you.

  • Chalk it up and never pay in advance. I use the ones at our local Sainsbury's sometimes and they do a good job but I always pay after not before!

Most likely someone else did a good job washing the 2 cars

When i am approached by foreign sounding car washers in supermarket car parks i always ask where their hose is,as to wash a car properly you need to hose it off first, that always leaves them lost for an answer

And for the money they charge i can wash my own car at home, which is good moneysaving
  • I am surprised people even let them wash there cars. Every time I see them clean cars in various supermarkets its the same dirty rag they use. I dread to think how many scratches are on your car. As cb1979 you need a hose to pre wash a car first before even attempting to hand wash. You shouldn't even wash with a brush either but many do.

Depends on the car really. If it's the company car then I wait until the dirt and bird muck is more than I can stand, then take it to the cheapest car wash I can find. If it's my own car then I take it to someone who knows what the two bucket method is.

That said, given that the Tesco value automatic car wash is cheaper than most of these guys, I guess the point still stands.
