17070 is a better number to call if you want to know what number your line is on.0

still on the old number, had another phone call, picked up the reciever didnt say anything waited for them to speak, what did i get, a cough from them, then silence and the disconnection tone. So i put the phone down.
And I'm with virginmedia LUM not BT.
update 1 week later, still on the old number, so he obviously didnt change my number, and again tonight we received a phone call, my mum answered but couldn't hear anything the person was saying due to "kids" in the background.0 -
update: Virgin never changed my phone number as requested, guess the INDIAN didnt want to have to tell his buddies about my new number.
had 2 calls in the past 2 days from 2 different indians calling themselves windows technical department, so today I replied with Oh yeah, when he said I had a problem with my computer.
I then said weird, you know how many of these calls i get a week, 1 every other day, infact, 2 days ago was the last, when i told them to remove my NAME and phone number from their computer.
phone went silent, so I put it down, picked it up and phoned my sister, no dial tone. So i said I suggest you disconnect this connection you ******* , then put the phone down again, went downstairs and picked up that one to, then i called my mobile to make sure it was working again.
Wait till they call me again. I'm going to answer with something like
Internet Fraud Squad how can i redirect your call.
or maybe, windows technical department.0 -
New one.
today in the last 5 minutes had a phone call. after 3 hellos
hi, i'm phoning you from the technical department from your broadband supplier.
my reply "Oh, yeah"
they then put the phone down.
not sky, bt, virgin, talktalk etc, but your broadband supplier.
indian sounded, called himself John
just spent 12minutes on the phone waiting for someone to pick up.
so much for virginmedia services.0 -
I usually tell them that they are through to the local police station and as we are having problems with computers glad they called.
They usually can't get off the phone quick enough.

I adopt my "Nasty Old Git" mode.
(Imagine Harry Enfield and his mate, that's the voice.)
I just play it off the cuff and adlib whenever I get one of these. Last week I screamed"WHAT?" about six times in succession in that voice, after realising it was another Asian fraudster. then I (relatively) calmed down and led him through a completely nonsensical dialogue, before asking him to hold. He was gone when I returned to pick up the phone, 10 minutes later ...
In the past I have told them I am William Gates III, Richard Branson and Randolph Churchill.
Great fun, can't wait for the next call.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

For a slight twist on the normal spiel, apparently it's the .inf files causing the problem,

I got a call today at 8am from "Microsoft" calling about a windows machine and asking if I was the owner of it. I couldn't stay on long as I had to go out, but is there any chance this is genuine call and isn't a windup?

about as much chance of me suddenly growing an extra arm, which i then use to help genetically engineer a flying pig which will then make hell freeze over,
and just to be totally clear, this call is from a scammer trying to extract money (at best) and/or actually install virus's on your system if you give them remote access (has happened)Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

A touch of levity there gonzo??
I'm still waiting for my call. I've got a 4-yo chatterbox who'd love to talk to them.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
