I was fed up last week after 6 weeks in wheelchair when I got my call.
When he asked about windows I said they were fine and all opened well.
He said he meant on the computer I said I didnt have one so he said his list said I was a user so I got really upset and asked him was he calling me a druggy as I have never taken anything in my life.
He hung up.Glenda

had another 3 since my last post.
Today they called themselves Windows Maintenance Support.
As soon as my mum called out WHO IS IT, and i shouted back the SCAMMERS again. the indian woman on the phone put the phone down.
she phones 2 days ago. I think i'll go to india for my holiday when i can afford one, and ask around about this A-holes. pay them a visit.
Wonder how many people they could phone with no electricity or phone lines must remember to take my wire cutters with me.0 -
today another call, Windows Technical Support. indian woman, basically i told her to shut up, please remove my details from your computer SCAMMER. to which she replied goodbye.
Suppose i should call the police for harassement, that 6 times they've called in the past 7 days. Virginmedia wont do anything about it, except tell me to phone a company up who will "stop it", shame i've already signed up for that and i still get the calls.0 -
This really would be a joke if it wasn't so scandalous. When boiler rooms swindle people out of thousands by selling dud investments in phone scams, TV consumer programs and law enforcement agencies get interested and action is taken. This is also a blatant swindle that has been going on for years and affects a lot of people. As usual, it's those least able to afford to lose money who are most likely to get hit and even though the amounts are relatively small, the number of people involved is clearly considerable, otherwise it wouldn't have become such an industry.
It's time the Indian authorities got involved and took some serious action against these criminals. How many people must work in this business that so many of us get called with such regularity? It just cannot be an invisible, backstreet affair. Their activities are bringing their country - and their reputation in operating legitimate call-centres - into disrepute. Indian call centres have an uphill battle to achieve the respect of their users as it is; if an Indian voice on the phone becomes synonymous with sleaze and dishonesty, the scammers will end up ruining legitimate businesses.0 -
I had my first ever call from these jokers the other week, when talking to them I found myself channelling Mrs Doubtfire, kept calling the woman on the other end dearie. When asked what I could see on the desktop / screen I pratlied on about the lovely picture of my cat that my children had put on the computer for me. I asked if they were calling from MS, they said yes, I asked if I could speak to Bill Gates. They said they needed to connect to my computer from there server (in London) I said I didn't think I had a cable long enough. I kept saying that I didn't really know much about computers and that I didn't want to waste the lovey girls time, in the end the lovely girl put a supervisor on who hung up on me. :rotfl:0

I had my first call last week, kept the guy on for 30 minutes until I got bored and explained I knew about his scam. He was most upset, he called me a 'bad man' and said I should be ashamed for wasting his time! Ha ha, pots and kettles...0

Just had a call from "Patrick" from Microsoft - didn't know that Indians called themselves Patrick.
I asked him if I could speak with Bill (this is my usual opening gambit), and when they ask me "who is Bill", I say - "Bill Gates"
Sadly we didn't speak much after that;)0 -
Er...Bill Gates doesn't run Microsoft any more. Richard Branson doesn't run Virgin Media. Steve Jobs is in an even better place than Apple.
Ask to speak to Steve Ballmer, Neil Berkett or Tim Cook. That'll confuse the Indians.0 -
I finally got my first call a few weeks ago. I tried to keep the guy online, using the usual answering his questions with a bit of obfuscation.
He wanted to confirm my location as "cha sheer" (it sounded like, anyway).
"Oh you must want Mr XYZ in Cha Sheer in Lancashire" I replied.
He then starts ranting on about how I obviously don't want helping.
Fact : these people will carry on as long as they find profit in 1 in a 100 or 1 in 500. To them talk is cheap. We should send in a guerilla hit squad and take a few of them out. It might focus their minds a little.0
