They just haven't seen as much wear and tear as the rest of the car.0

They don't flash you for not indicating to move left.
We did have some truck drivers on these forums, but there was a war here in ancient times, a troll war, troll versus man.... Now the survivors are scattered around the internet.
I've simply taken to indicating again, i don't wanna have a thread started on here about "b3llend Honda drivers..."0 -
.... because 5K for a good 5-series is a really really rubbish deal ....0

KierNet - who told you that?! Ridiculous!
If you want to join from a slip road, you MUST indicate!
Left turn only (or if you're in any lane that only goes one direction), fine, as long as people across the junction wouldn't benefit from it (don't just think about people behind, and don't assume that everyone around the junction, knows it in detail, think of pedestrians etc (thanks for the examples Lum!)).
foofi22 - YES. My point exactly!
Strider, on a slip road, you'll have a divider line. You want to change lane to get onto the motorway, therefore INDICATE!
wba31 - yeah, that comes from overtaking on a single carraigeway - you're meant to drive on the left, you indicate right to overtake, then go left again, so the manoeuvre has been indicated. That carries over to dual and motorway, but an indication left when pulling in (that's left!) can certainly be useful in traffic.0 -

You've just said that in a left turn only its fine not to...how many different ways are there to turn on a standard slip road? What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -

Not signalling left on lane change is a good example of something that is technically correct, and a good idea in theory, but a bad idea in practice.
Why it's a good idea: as already mentioned, people should be expecting you to move back in after an overtake, and it means that people who do actually signal left are the ones exiting the motorway, which is something totally different.
Why it's a bad idea: No-one actually expects people to move back over after a lane change, they expect you to just stay in the sodding middle lane. Many people also pay so little attention that they will be surprised by you moving back in if you don't signal, and may get wound up and do something stupid.0 -
KierNet - OK that was 2 different things I was talking about - slip roads, those that go onto or come off roads and motorways - you should indicate to JOIN and LEAVE these - you're indicating a lane change (and yes Sgt Pepper, LOOK, but we're talking about indicating here).
The left turn only comment I made, was responding to a previous post - like at the traffic lights and you're ALREADY IN a lane with a left arrow in it. The previous poster's point was 'don't indicate, you can only go left' which I think is fine, but with the caveat that you should always think of whether other road users (not necessarily drivers) would benefit - like, for example, the pedestrian that's about to cross the road you're about to enter.
Lum - I'm in NI with very little 3 lane action. The few miles of 3 lanes we have, are infected with middle and outside lane hogs. You're 'why it's a bad idea' all relates to bad driving on the part of others. I'm all for defensive driving though!0 -

So why indicate if there's nothing there?0 -

185k, only had a clutch, slave and master and a few bushes. Plus 2 rear springs.
Care to elaborate on how that's unreliable?0
