Totally disagree. Since when did all these caveats to indicating appear?
Why not just indicate and be done with it - its not particularly hard. Now obviously to us 'non-advanced' drivers the indicating may startle and confuse us, which is maybe why some people decide not to indicate?0 -

Your coming down a motorway slip lane, where the f**k else are you going to go?? Left across a muddy field? do a U-turn maybe?
If it's a dual slip lane (both on and off), then you need to indicate..... But I've only seen these on the odd dual carriageway.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

i remember a discussion on here a while back about indicating while pulling back into lane 1 on the motorway after overtaking (which i know is a rarity for anyone but lorries to be in lane 1 on the major motorways!) and how people said it's not the law to do it, and it's illogical to as you are supposed to pull in anyway. I trialled not indicating when pulling back in, and the lorries i was pulling back in front of often flashed at me after id pulled in, presumably because i hadnt indicated. It wasnt because i'd cut them up, and im never flashed when i indicate.
the lack of indicator brigade isnt any 1 group in my opinion, and some of the courteous drivers i come accross, as in letting me out to overtake, are often BMW drivers.
having said that i dont think BMW's are all that, and i dont aspire to own one, as i believe i could get a LOT more for my money by buying something like a Honda, but i agree that they are good cars. as a result, BMW, Audi and Merc are all so common these days, I see a lot more of them to the new shape Accord - which will be my next purchase - sometime this year0 -
Why would jealous cause someone to rant about indicators?
I have a Rover 75, which uses a stupidly high number of BMW parts, and I can indicate fine. I also have no desire to own a BMW, as my 75 has a comfier ride, is more reliable and is cheaper to run and insure. It also is quicker than most same-era BMWs and the engine although made by the Germans had several modifications to avoid turbo failure and swirl flap ingestion. Why BMW couldn't do this, I don't know.
BMWs are really over-rated, yes I have driven several and they didn't set my world on fire.0 -

If you watch them they actually flash for a number of reasons.
-They flash you, (but mostly each other) to say "it's ok, your clear, you can pull in front now".
-They flash to say "thanks for leaving room and not cutting me up".
-They flash/honk if you pull in too close and cut then up.
-If you see a single hazards flash, that's a "thanks mate"
-If you see a quick left/right indicator flash, that's also a "thanks mate"
They don't flash you for not indicating to move left.
We did have some truck drivers on these forums, but there was a war here in ancient times, a troll war, troll versus man.... Now the survivors are scattered around the internet.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

At the end of the day we all have pre conceived ideas about various brands and some decide on whether they like something based on what they were told as a kid or by mates etc etc. Generalisations are just that............ unless we are talking about Audi drivers of course
After all there are still people out there who will believe until the day that they die that the Labour party is for the working man........ but thats probably now going OT0 -

I've just spent 6 days driving and a lot of the of cars (Vauxhalls, Nissans, Fords, BMWs, VWs, etc) seemed to treat indicators as an optional extra. Not signalling at roundabouts, pulling up to let someone get out of the car, etc seemed to be quite normal - but there again I was in the wilds of County Kerry.
The hire car had quite a few (existing) marks on it but the indicators did work.0
