For LCD - The best companies are Samsung & Sony
For Plasma - Panasonic & Pioneer
Ok going for a well known make will burn a hole in ya pocket but it will be quality and will last much longer than the duds.
I'd agree. Just because something is cheap, doesn't mean it's any good. I'd go as far the say that spending £300 only a normal widescreen tv from the likes of panasonic/ toshiba etc would give you a much better viewing experience than the above mentioned 'bargains' even though a normal tv is not high definition. For £500-600 is a realistic price to start getting some genuine bargains such as the Toshiba and Panasonic TV's mentioned on other threads here. Again Sony and Samsung are two other names to look out for, though the words Sony and bargain are rarely found together in the same sentence!0 -

The other side of the coin is technology is moving forward so quickly with these sorts of things that spending big bucks on big names gets the good stuff now but what about in a couple of months when something new is out or the specs gets alot better and you've spent big time on somethings thats now well out of date!
Spending less doesnt always get you bad quality and you could even spend less by getting a big named item reconditioned.
Like alot of people i cant afford Sony so i look for the cheaper items with good reviews, good specs at a price i can afford.
Being patient has its rewards too.Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -

Im tempted too especially with the 2 year warrantyAlways looking for a bargain and to help0 -
As a JoeBloggs with a wife and two kids to support, I personally cannot justify spending £700+ just because the TV is Sony or Panasonic.
The 300 difference can be spent clothing the kids!!!
I don't need something that necessarily makes me feel like I'm right there, or in a cinema.
My standard 26" TV was rapidly on it's way out, and I had a choice - spend £150 on a new one or spend £370 on an HD Ready 32" LCD.
It took a few days to justify it, but we went with the LCD.
It's cash that we had in the bank as opposed to spending on plastic or the overdraft - both of which we completely avoid.
The reality with the AOC we bought is that for the majority of programming it's VASTLY superior to the TV we had.
It has a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, so we're covered for most instances and if one of the children damages it, we're covered on insurance.
My brother-in-law and his partner only buy Sony.... and it shows.... the house hasn't been decorated since they moved in 4 years ago (still the previous owners minging carpet, wallpaper etc.). Why?! Because they choose to spend the money on items that are overpriced and not that much better.
And the previous poster was right about technological advances..... I paid £200 for a DVD player back in 1999 it was no better than the ones now going round for £20!0 -

If you're talking about the 32" from Techfever..... no they don't!
I paid by Maestro for mine, and Visa debit for my in-laws......
It goes through a few security screens first, which may lead you to think it's PayPal or similar0 -
if you go through techfever you can get the aoc 27" for 299 deliuvered
AND PAY BY DEBIT/CREDIT CARD
and you can get 2.5% quidco0 -
no 27" from intekx
it says either paypal or check0 -
Please please please don't ignore old technology which is still currently better than anything else being offered when looking at vision alone. I know that there are a number of other factors to take into consideration but for those looking for new TV's for reasons other than to get the latest technology, there are some bargains on the high street and ebay or in local papers as people sell on their 1, 2 year old 32" CRT's......
In my opinion CRT is worth keeping hold of until absolutely necessary.....a long way off.Consider anything only don't cry!0
