Thanks all.

For the record, it's OH who is raking through the bin in his never ending recycling quest and me who thinks this is a step too far and he should leave well alone.
Daughter is already off in tizz because she's freaking at the thought of her Dad being anywhere near her used towels even although they are put in nappy sacks before being binned. Tbh I can quite understand her feelings.
I told him he should leave the bin alone but he seems to think I have some sort of extreme issue for even considering it to be a problem. :rotfl:
The best of it is, a lot of recycling is done in this house so it's not as if we don't bother. It's only the odd thing that will slip though.
I'm going to have 2 bins now, one for personal items and one or everything else, he can rake in that one as much as he wants.Herman - MP for all!

That sounds like a good compromise Aliasojo - we have a septic tank so all sanitary stuff goes in a bin - my OH would never even look at the bin it goes in! Any recyclable stuff goes straight in the recycling.Light Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0

That's what I do - I have two small bins in the bathroom, one for recyclables (bottles, loo roll cores, deodorant cans etc) and one for non-recyclables (dental floss and everything else ...) Easiest way to get OH to recycle as otherwise it all gets chucked in one bin.0

used tampons, sanitary towels and condoms, toe nail clippings... leave the bin well alone!0 -
Dog walkers all round the country pick up their dogs' mess. I doubt you'll find anything worse than that in your bathroom bin.
I wish more dog walkers, who walk their mutts in our local park, picked up their mess. But hey that is a whole new thread

I dont hunt through the bins to salvage any recyclable items, but if i'm putting something in the bin and notice one of the kids has put say a plastic bottle in the bin, i have been known to remove it and put it in the correct bin

ugh seriously would people put those things in a communal bin to lie and fester for god knows how long surely they should be disposed of either down the loo or straight into an outside bin :eek:0
